 will gt take-offs decrease my torque?? i have heard so many different stories about how take offs will hurt my performance. can someone tell me if gt take-offs are even worth having. also, what if i replace the mufflers with flowmaster 40's will that make a difference? b/c i also heard that they will give the exhaust too much flow and result in even more torque loss or something like that. is that true??? |

you wouldn't even notice the small amount of torque you'll lose

They decrease your low end torque, but they will give you a more high end. They will make your car faster. Replacing mufflers wont really do anything to your performance but it will make it sound a lot better. |

pacesetter is the cheapy option. straight pipes on an odd firing engine won't do you much good either. i'd recommend a mac prochamber or an h or x pipe if you can afford one

Its more like an H or X pipe wont do much on his engine, since the 3.8L has an even firing order.
As long as you keep your cats, you wont notice any loss in torque, the cats create more backpressure than the catback.
As long as you have the pacesetter welded up properly, it will work well. |

If you are going to get an exhaust system, take-offs are the way to go. At no ppoint on the tachometer does my car sound ricey with them. Ive listened to some of these others guys cars with mac, flowmaster, etc and it sounds good at idle but when you get up into the high rpm, it sounds really "honda-ish" I have a 99 3.8 with bbk cold air intake and gt take offs and i swear sometimes there are days when you cant tell its not a v8. The air intake and the take offs together sound perfect. It has to be the best sound you can get out of a 6. Not to mention, take offs are so cheap. |

they will not hurt your performance they will shave off a bit of time from your car. You lose back pressure so down low it may not feel QUITE as fast. You never really lose TQ you just move it up in the power band. I never noticed anything with the same size pipe in dual exhaust form with flowmasters. With stock GT mufflers they wont even flow as good as that so you really shouldnt notice anything.

do any of you reccomend putting on some mufflers like flowmaster 40's or should i just keep the stock ones on? |

I would replace it with flowmaster 40's if your lookin for sound and not just performance. |
