New setup plan time.

Now that ive decided to chuck the 5.0 i have in favor of an explorer 5.0, i guess ill lay out my setup plans for the moment, just for the hell of it

-Explorer 5.0
-GT40P heads
-Typhoon intake manifold (cheap, works well)
-65mm throttle body
-flowtech long tube headers, 1 5/8 primaries
-o/r x-pipe
-2.5" catback, ultraflow mufflers (loud)
-March underdrive pulleys, ill use the crank, water pump, and alt pulleys
-advance the timing to 14* BTDC or so
-Trick Flow valve springs
-Trick Flow #1 cam, or maybe an E cam, something, i dont know yet
-70mm MAF from an MN12
-adjustable fuel pressure regulator
-255lph fuel pump
-EGR, smog, and A/C elimination

As for the rest of the car:
-T5 swap
-3.55 gears
-fresh t-lock

Think itll run a 13 in a 3500 pound car?

I think you will be in the 13's, my 1990 mustang was in the 13's with alot less

It'll be close to a 13 second car with a little traction. What kind of tires will you be running? I'm not sure how well the T-bird suspension will launch in comparison to the Stangs, but with a decent 60 ft (at least down around 1.9) it should be into the 13s.

For the cam you may want to check out the Comp Cam Extreme Engergy line. They have a couple cams that are designed for extra low and mid-range power which is what you'll probably want in a heavier car. The TFS Stage 1 would also be pretty good, but I'd stay away from the E-cam. I have a buddy with a similar combo (Ported out E7s, Typhoon intake, 3.73s, etc) that has it and wasn't really a huge fan of it. Although it does sound sweet at idle...

Im leaning more towards the TFS cam right now.

As for suspension, its nearly identical, other than the control arms being a bit longer, both upper and lower. I have some BFG drag radials that have a few passes left on em that i want to at least try out.

As long as i tag one 13 second time, ill be satisfied with the setup, around tax time next year, i want to buy some stuff, which will put me well into the 12's...on road race oriented suspension
