looks like dirt on the lense to me.
looks like you did a clean installation, but i really regret putting them on my car (other than being a quick fix when my hood latch broke.) they started to rust from the chrome getting scraped, and ended up just being a pain. now I have to decide if i want to spend hours filling the holes in and making it look good from both side, or getting a new hood.

nope, not at all.
i marked the tips of the anchors with crayon, so when i lowered the hood it left a mark. used a 3/4" drill on the bottom side. then repeated the process and used a very small bit to drill a hole through the bottom through the top of the hood, then came down with a 1/2" hole cutter. then i used my dremmel 1/2" drum sander to take out a little bit(make the hole oval, because of the hood being on a pivot, the end doesnt come straight down, it arcs). couple minutes of sanding and boom the holes were finished. then mounted the plates and i was done.
besides, if i fucked it up, id just have to refiberglass the holes and come back tomorrow, since its going to paint sometime soon(whenever the 1/4 rear covers come in, they were shipped friday). but i got them suckers dead on.
i love the look it gives, i wish i had done these a while ago. and as for rust, i might spray some clearcoat over the anchor bolts. the cords are steel but coated in plastic.

just did mine the other day. Works awesome.
FYI - I already know my hood needs to be painted but it was blue before lol
Also, The holes next to the hood pins where NOT from me and were already there when the hood came with the car.

seriously... on a stock hood,
hood pins look so tacky, the only way Id ever put them on my car is if i had an aftermarket hood that didnt have a strong latch area.
and paint your damn wing!!

d00ds hood pins add 20hp and the unpainted wing added 15hp, duh.......
no, i added pins cause eleanor has them as well. if im going to do a eleanor clone look, im going to do it right or not do it at all.
and the car gets painted probably next week is when itll go in, depending on their schedule. the last pieces to the puzzle arrive friday. so yes, its going to be painted very soon. i just mounted it to make sure i liked it, and i do, and i just havent had time to deal with taking it back off and slapping on electrical tape over the holes. it doesnt bother me, now if i had a full body kit that wasnt painted, then that would bother me. but im not even mounting it, theyre spraying the car and the kit/wing/CL2 1/4 window covers seperate so they get full coverage over everything.

lol i would, but i start work at 8 and get off at 5. though they will be calling me when they prep for the stripes, as i want to make sure they space them out and make them the width i want them. he says theyre using the "3 finger" method they use on all cars, where you take your 3 middle fingers, place them in the middle of the hood, and thats the space between stripes(roughly 2").
if i still worked my old job and had no life 4 days a week, id probably just hang out while they worked and taken pics of everything. besides, aside from seeing the car silver when they lay the stripes, i just want to see the car when its finally done, and not every step, cause it would ruin the suprise if i know exactly how its going to look.
and whats with everone knocking pins on stock hood? its fiberglass, just like any aftermarket hood (except for CF, which are just as weak). besides, the gt hood scoop goes perfect with the look im going for, i looked but no other hood works as well.

sorry, i shouldve reworded that better. i just meant i dont want to see the car when its all stripped down and sanded and taped off, id prolly cry. the 3 times i want to see it are: when i drop it off, when they tape off for the stripes(so i can check spacing and thickness), and when i pick it up.
other than that, no, i dont like people to work on my car unless I cannot do the work myself(as in, not the right tools), or if i seriously dont know what the fuck im doing but want it done anyways. 2 things that will get done that i wont touch on this car are the rear gears and clutch, both of which i dont have the tools(well, i could do clutch, but not enough patience), and dont have the knowledge(dropping new gears in is easy, but rebuilding the trac-loc and adjusting the lash and whatnot=hard).
i told my cousin one night that i was thinking about going with a Procharger setup, and he was like "yeah, since youre making more money, you can have a shop do it so its done right". i was like "what makes you so certian shops do anything right, seeing, umm, how many times has your car been back after a simple engine swap? and you expect a shop to just install a SC kit like they know what theyre doing? no bud, dont think so" then i went on to telling him how the whole point of modding cars was to learn how to do shit yourself and see how stuff works.
