My only mods are listed as my signature, given this, is it worth the time and money to skip a few steps, from the suggested approach to modifying v6 mustangs, and put a cam into my car? Would I be f*ck!ng it up in the long run?

if you tear into the car to do a cam you had better do heads/intakes at the same time. Its not really worth it for just a cam.

The thing is you should never just install a cam on a Stock V6 Mustang.
To install a cam you have to take the Upper Intake, Lower Intake, and heads off the car just to get it out. It makes no sense performance wise or time wise to take all that off and put the stock stuff back on top of the cam.
If you are going to be doing a Camshaft upgrade you need to purchase ported intakes and heads to go back on the car. This will get you the most power out of the cam. To just install a cam will net you very little as you are limited by the specs of the cam due to the stock heads and intakes.

So if to get into the motor it would make sense to change cam, heads, ported lower & upper intake manifold all at once, right? How about those rocker arms and springs I think I've heard of cam kits which probably go along w/ the idea of changing a few parts since they're on the way.

You pretty much better plan it all out and do it all at once. Cause gaskets get expensive.

Yes replacing your Rocker Arms with Adjustable Roller Rockers would be a good idea. Most heads you buy give you the option of adding higher spring rates a long with it.
Much easier to do it all at once.

You do not have to remove the heads for just a cam.
Also stock springs are for stock cams.
Get a complete package that is designed to meet your goals for the car.

another thing to think about is emissions. that will affect the spec on the cam that you get. along with good gaskets get some quality studs. Plan on spending about 2k on one of those packages and the little necessities. After the swap you should be looking at 215-225rwhp if you get a nice tune and stay emissions friendly.

You don't need to take off the heads, but it's merely 8 bolts per head to remove them. DOing a cam swap will totally change the way you feel about your mustang. It brings it to life like you never thought possible.(maybe) But doing a cam alone is silly since it involves alot of work and if you have future plans for your mustang. It's better to just do them all at once. It'll same you LOTS of time and money in the long run. Plus you'll get to enjoy the acceleration all at once.

OK you gott an '04, and 99-04 heads flow REALLY WELL!
Many have changed a cam only and gotten great results with a
tune after the cam change. IMO you should get duals and a cam,
and later porting the intakes will help a good bit. Or while they are
off the car. Actually, you can change the cam with the intakes ON
if you get the "lifter-pullers" as I call them. They hold the lifters up
by using a hooking device that goes down thru the pushrod holes.
I whole-heartedly can recommend a cam & tune, some have got close
to 50 RWHP doing this. Intake porting will ad some more good HP too.
I agree, the head porting helps as well, buit if you really do not want the
expense and work, a cam & tune is a good idea.

There seems to be lots of different opinions and suggestions. Internal engine work seems to be a shady subject. What I got from this was that I should port my intakes, change my head, cams and a tune all at once to avoid going into the motor more than once. I don't really know what to do. I want to do something other than a bolt on to actually feel a difference not like when I added my cai and I thought I felt it faster.

Well, not to down anyone else but I've done more porting, cam speccing and
combo design than anyone else for these engines, and the course I laid out
for you is a good and less expensive route to take. Now these other guys are
right in that once the HP bug bites you, youi'll probably wish you had ported
the heads at the same time. I'm just saying that for you to reach the goals
you state in this post, you can do a cam and tune, and get a great power
increase. Porting the intakes later is quite easy, you could do it in a weekend
even if you are a first timer. Then you would have a really cheap combo that
WILL make over 200 RWHP with the proper tune. I've actually seen a cam and
tune produce between 210-220 RWHP on a 99^ V6 Mustang, but they had
a good dual exhaust system and boltons as well. That was with one of my old
207 cams, but I got much better cams now that you can get.
