I have a 94 honda prelude with a kbb value of 5600 so thats about how much I want to spend. I was wanting some advice on what year of stang to get. I hear that the 94-98 gt's put out 215hp, that is the years Im interested in but what I really want to know is how much money is involved to upgrade the HP to about 290-300 range? Any help would be great Im still new to all this, but my neighbor has a 2001 stang with 390hp damn im jealous!

The 98 GT had 225 HP the 96-97 had 215
As far as upgrading the hp a simple swap of heads/intakes from a 99+ GT will give you right at 270-280 at the crank due to they flow better and the 96-98 has slightly higher compression ration than the 99+ GT's
Welcome to the site and glad to see you convert

Thank you, I dont know how much more in depth I want to go as far as engine mods-sucks being a broke highschooler. My prelude was just way too slow and mods cost an arm and a leg.

its a straightforward swap, but its time consuming, and there's always variables (rusted/stuck on bolts..) and of course the timing chains/tensioners on the 96-98s can be a PITA..
94-95 still had the 5.0, which responds to mods just as well.. and aftermarket, at this point, is larger and cheaper (as I said though at this point..) bottom/mid range also owns the 4.6 mod motors..
having owned both that's just my opinion..

a good upgrade to not pass up is also gears. I bought mine for $200 & install was $200. I also took off .5tenths which is a huge difference. The head swap & gears will get you low to mid 13's. Hope to see you around!

if you want a cheap way to get to 300+ hp/tq a 5.0 will do the deed, heads/cam/intakes/bolt ons and your there.
