when putting on new headers is it necessary to use a new exhaust manifold gasket or can i reuse the old? I've heard that it is ok to reuse the old gasket, but I just want to make sure.
the gasket that is on there now is less than a year old because last summer I did the h/c/i swap so i needed new gaskets for that. I might just reuse the one that is on there.
Our exhaust does NOT use any gaskets except for one spot. And that's between the headers and heads. The rest of the "mating" points do not require them. One side of the exhaust is flared, while the other is recessed, or a "reverse flare" so that when you bolt them together you get an "air tight" fit.

Dont resuse your header gaskets. I heard they were too, so I tried to save 12 bucks by reusing them, I had to install the headers over again cause the thing leaked so bad. Just look at the part of the gasket that sits between the heads/headers. Use your own judgement, remembering that gasket surfaces should be clean and smooth for best results....
exhaust gaskets are cheap... why risk the headache?
