I'm thinking about getting some lowering springs for my 03 gt but cant decide what kind to get and how much I should lower it. I was going to lower it 2 in but I wonder when I get the new cobra bumper I want, if it will tear it to bits. Should I just go with an 1.5" or what?

i don't know exactly which cobra bumper you want, but 1.5" is what I have and it's perfect. 1.5" is really about the limit for daily drivability. People say that's the line for C/C plates, but some say they don't need them, and I most definitely did.

You'll have to learn how to handle dips and hills again anyway.

Yeh, 1.5 is about the limit, and I needed c/c plates as well so you might as well just go ahead and plan that into your costs. And for c/c plates I recommend maximum motorsports 4 ways, best ones for the money IMO.

any more than 1.5 inches you run into driving issues. I would recommend CC plates from maximummotorsports.com (4 bolt ones) with any drop. They also sell H&R springs which are extremly good springs. If you are on a budget you can get ford C springs and cut a bit from them for a good drop.

I have a 1.75 drop on the front. I'll be putting on CC plates when the car gets done. I still need to have the front radiator support removed and welded in and then painting the car.
The project is on hold for the moment though because the money I saved, 1500, is going to be used to get the wife a dependable car.

When you lower your car, it makes it where the stock camber plates cannot adjust enough to give you a correct alignment. Aftermarket caster/camber plates allow the front suspension to be moved more and therefore makes it where you can alight the suspension.

If you drop your car past a certain point, your front wheels look like this:
/---car---\
so the insides wear disproportional to the outside. The stock suspension setup doesn't allow for enough adjustment to correct it, so new caster/camber (aka "cc plates") are needed.

when you lower a car past a certain point it messes up the alignment of your front tires, usually you have too much negative (I think) camber making your tires look like this / \ instead of this l l
we have Steeda caster/camber plates on the Bullitt and we've bought some for the '91 but haven't put them on yet
the Bullitt has been lowered about 1.75in. I think but the '91 has been lowered even more than that, I'd say about 2in. You can hang up clearing ANYTHING in it though, but once you get used to it you'll be okay
