EGR Error Code

When I put on my o/r xpipe and cat back i my check engine light went on. I have MIL's for the o2 sensors. The code is P0401. It says that my EGR valve doesn't have sufficient flow. Do i have an exhaust lead somewhere in one of the headers or has my EGR just gone bad?

That code is usually associated with the DPFE sensor going bad.
It's about a $60 part from Ford.

Yeah mine went bad. That's the code i got. I don't remember the part being that much though.

I'm pretty sure it stands for Differential Pressure Feedback (Emissions)? sensor. I'm not really sure about the "E". Anyway it's a very easily accessible sensor near your EGR valve that is part of the emissions system. (sorry i don't have a pic) When my car threw that code i changed my egr valve first and then found out it wasn't the valve because the problem didn't go away. Then i changed the sensor and everything was fine again. BTW the new sensor from ford was a different shape than the one on my car due to a design change but it does the same thing.

how hard is it to put on the DPFE sensor and does it go on the actual EGR valve? In other words, where does it actually go?

where can i get an EGR delete kit for a 2000 v6? how much will it run? I know that all it really is is a block off plate.

I bought mine from him for 15 bucks as well. You will need a tune to tell your computer to not permanently throw an engine code however.

I made my own, but as stated you will need to turn the EGR off in your EEC/tune

i have the Xcal 2. Isn't that supposed to permanantly remove that code. I noticed that it goes away for a while but it keeps coming back.

Not if you just read the codes & clear them.
You need to have it turned off in your tune.
