The powerdyne superchargers tend to be rather inexpensive... are they any good? Im looking at a 9lb kit... is it worth the 1700 bucks?

dont cheap out, if you cant afford it dont do it. Do it right or dont do it at all ... this motto will save you money/time/hassel/etc in the end.

Paxton makes some nice blowers. I believe they make a NOVI 1000 for your year if you want a lower boost setup. Then of course, there's the NOVI 2000 which is capable of making about as much boost as any sane person would want in a street car.

It really is pretty easy. I took a nice pic of it after I was done without the fiiting in yet. It looks very clean and was really the easiest part of the whole gosh darn install process. All the rest had some minor problem here or there that had to fixed, but with that, the hardest part was just finding a tap big enough and good hole saw.

vortech's kits with an aftercooler are close to 5k. Prochargers aftercooled kit are $3600 vortech is way more $$$. I am buying the base vortech kit for $2700 (chrome) or $2400 without. Then all I need is 42lb injectors, fuel pump & different meter. And of coarse a downloaded tune from my programmer.

It will be fine for up to 8psi...even though I will run 6psi. With an aftercooler it can run 10psi, but i will be running 8. i plan on running it without it for like a couple months...no longer.

Stay away from Powerdyne!!! I had one and so did my friend and both of them blew up! They're cheap for a reason! Save a little longer and go w/ Procharger! They might be pricey, but it will make the most power and are very good quality! Paxton is good to but do it right the first time. Although I'm not sure about your car,the difference between procharger and vortech on an '01 gt is 65rwhp and on my car is 80rwhp @ 10psi. Good Luck!

Powerdyne is a good entry level blower. That's it.Most people get the bug to make more boost by changing pullies on the blower and that's when the problems arise.........

I have also heard horror stories about powerdynes. Im contemplating a Paxton 1000 fer my old heap. And if your really scurd of tapping the oil pan, i imagine you could rig the super charger up with its own supply, maybe a old motorsickle oil bag?

Yea the oil pan is easy to tap took me about fifteen minutes and you can do it with the oil pan on I just ran a bunch of clean oil through the hole after I drilled it and I am going to start my car up for a couple of minutes and then change the oil again. I was going to go Procharger but I decided on turbo but yea I have only heard bad things about powerdynes

Vortech's are more effiecient than prochargers and therefore can run higher boost numbers without the intercooler. Powerdynes are a joke, don't waste your money. You can find a good used s-trim for about $1500, rebuild it for $300 if you want, and you'll have a good setup. I will be selling mine at some point to get my turbo..,

the shop that tuned my '92 (gained 18 HP/20 ft lbs..) was talking with someone on the phone earlier.. and recommended against procharger.. saying they've had either nothing but problems, or they didn't make as much power as advertised... and that he'd never use procharger personally...
-> I'd like a roots blower, since my regal has one.. and the bottom end kicks ass.. .... since I don't go too fast on the streets, that'd be perfect for me...
just my opinion though

Guys It's January, I Have Been Waiting For My Powerdyne Since Sept. 12, I Have Read Alot Of Blogs On Powedyne, Vortech, Paxton, Everyone That Makes An Affordable Centrifical Supercharger. I Found That There Are Very Bad Horror Stories With Every Supercharger Manufacturer. Sum Guys Have Powerdynes With 70k Mi. Others Blow Them Within A Week Of Install. O Yea, U Don't Need An Inter/after Cooler Till U Make More Than 13lbs. Of Boost. 14lbs. Is Considered A Full Atmosphere....anything Under 14lbs. Is Considered As Low Boost Level....adding A Intercooler Adds Volume To A Boost System...lowering Your P.s.i. Powerdyne S/c Make Less Heat Than Other S/c's Cause They Dont Cool Themselves W/ Hot Engine Oil, Nor Do The Internal Gears Touch Which Make Friction/heat....all Of This Equals Lower Intake Air Charge Temp., In Turn Negating The Need For An Intercooler......remember, Superchargers, Turbos, & Nitrous Do Not Like High Compression, U Can Run More Boost W/ Less Detonation And Run More Agressive Timing With Low(er) Compression.....do More Research Before Ordering An Intercooler, U Dont Need One For Only 9lbs Of Boost, And From The Sound Of It, You Should Definatley Educate Yourself Before Even Firing The Car Up After Installation
