need help

our '91 5.0 LX w/AOD is having some problems and I could use your help. When i am decellerating a low speeds, like slowing to stop at a light or to make a turn I can hear(and kinda feel) a clunking noise. It sounds like it may be coming from the front of the tranny, TC maybe? But as soon as you push the gas a little or slow down more it quits. It doesn't do it in neutral, only when in gear and slowing down or atleast off the gas. When it first started this it wasn't as bad as it is now.

maybe U-Joints?

sounds like U joints or something in the drivetrain~ I would check the U joints and make sure the driveshaft is tight where its bolted to rear as well (im sure it is but should be checked cuz you never know)

doesn't really sound like u-joints to me but I'll check anyway, it's all kinda hard to explain, would be better if you could hear it for yourself

Sounds like you are describing the torque converter is staying engaged in lockup.

well I think the problem may be fixed. We installed our new offroad x-pipe this weekend and while we had it up on the lift we noticed that one of the mufflers was rubbing against the driveshaft so after we'd finished with the x-pipe it shifted everything a little and now it's not rubbing. I didn't think something like that would have made that kind of noise but we haven't heard it anymore since then...hopefully it's fixed

You may want to check the tranny mount also. I had a similar problem on a 92 conv. t-5
