speedo pegged

I have a '98 3.8, when i started the car the speedo went to the peg (above 120 analog) what's up and how do I fix it?

mine will do that if the battery is disconnected or drains down. But on 98s... this shouldnt be the cause. Does it go back to normal operations after this?

Do you have gauge Overlays?

Where you going beyond 120 lately?

Maybe the needle got hung up on an overlay?
