Bad alternator? Maybe killing the charge to the battery and the extra accessories drain it to the point the car misses? A long shot but all I can come up with.
It's likely that the A/C clutch has gone out or A/C compressor is frozen up.
Try getting someone to sit in the car while it's running while you listen and watch under the hood. Watch the accessory belt where it turns the A/C compressor pulley and see what happens when they turn the A/C on.

Looks like the A/C Compressor is froze up
Turned the car on... my mom turned the A/C on and bam.... the pulley on the a/c compressor turned one rotation and froze.
I got another A/C compressor in my garage.... is it something I can replace or am I going to need to have someone else do it?

You might need to just take it somewhere to have it done. All the old refrigerant will need to be flushed. It's a fairly involved project. If you know a little about working on A/C stuff, you may be able to handle it yourself though. Mine is frozen up too, but now that I'm getting another car I think I'm just going to get rid of the A/C all together.

You can replace it yourself. What you need to do is slowly remove the screw holding the piping to the compressor. You will hear the refrigerant (sp?) start to bubble out with the oil. You might want to get some towels to protect your engine from the oil that's going to spit out. After it stops, remove and replace the compressor and then recharge the system. Easy as pie!
