Yes, you need a double connector to connect an aftermarket headunit to your factory 460 system, but they make the connector. Any car audio shop should be able to hook you up.

i bought the scorse adapter thing from walmart. People said i needed more than just that, but i color coded everything and it works fine

i love the mach 460 deck, i just wish i had inputs in the back so i could hook up my ipod instead of having to constantly burn CD-R's with only 20 songs on them, compared to making cd-rw's with 20, since the mach deck can only read normal cd format, and not cd-r or mp3.
but yeah, you can get the ford to aftermarket harness at best buy, circut city, the good guys, places like that. hell just google it and you can find the part number.

The Mach 460 is above average for factoy system but that gives it a B rating. There are so many aftermarket systems you can put together and be 1000 times better the Mach 460 at a much low cost than ford charges per car for the mach 460 package

I had a very very very nice system in my old car before my 01 and sure it wasnt the same but it wasnt far off. I got out of the whole stereo scene then, got the mach 460 and was happy, it needed more base but its not to bad~
Just be careful I blew to much money and grew out of it and then... electronics dont sell for crap used

My deck retails at 449.99... ebay allowed me to get it for 235 shipped to my door. Mine has some 24 bit processor, and it seriously makes my mach speakers sound amazing. The only thing I might add to my stereo is a small 10" sub some day... but besides that, the highs and mids are pretty good with the stock system.

Update. I went to a UMC cruise in Saturday at the Sonics In Mauldin SC near my house. I was showing some of my friends with Cobra's my stereo system and let them listen. Here is what he said on the UMC website today "Corey, awesome stereo . Honestly, that is the first time I've ever thought about an upgrade from the Mach460." Below is the actual post he made. Most of these guys who had Cobra's there now know the limitations of the Mach 460 system,

The newer model 460 units can play mp3's as well as connect to satellite radio. You might want to look around some, there's plenty out there.

My '06 Shaker 1000 will play MP3 discs. I'm not sure about the satellite radio, but I never listen to the radio anyway. The Shaker 500 deck is the same.
You can't beat 6 MP3 discs in dash though. That's a lot of music. |
