while the car is running and reaches normal operating temerature the engine just dies. if u try to start it back it wil just crank over, will not hit or anything. wait about 10 minutes it will start back until it reaches its normal temp.....any ideas?
no i dont have a coolant problem...i remeber those front wheel drive chevy cars like berettas cavaliers..etc with those 2.8 and 3.1 multi ports. they had crank position sensors and the magnets on the end of them would crack and when the car reached normal temperature the magnet would expand causing the coil not to fire..let it sit for 10 minutes it would run again...im pretty sure the 5.0 doesnt have these but im not positive
doesn't stumble or buck at all? just shuts down? Replaced your TFI module lately?

doesnt stumble any acts just like you turned they key off. that is an idea replacing the tfi module. i got a paper once saying they recalled them on my particular model but i couldnt get it done for free since i was the 2nd owner of the car. thanks for your reply and all replies to my problem -tom
I would definitely start with the TFI module then, I doubt its an ignition switch problem as that wouldn't be affected by engine temperature, and it would happen more frequently, plus car wouldn't typically crank over again immediately
At the moment its the only thing I could think of that would cause it to just cut out like turning the key off, and it would cause the coil to lose its driver signal..
