What causes cruise control to go out? I bought my stang back in 05 and the cruise control was already out on it, I want to fix it but im not really sure on what it coulb be that needs fixed...any ideas?
Power for the cruise control comes in through the DRL/Fog/Horn fuse in the engine compartment fuse box. It then goes through the horn relay (don't ask me why) , through the clockspring in the steering wheel and then to the cruise control switch. So, if the cruise control and the horn doesn't work, it is likely the horn relay or the clockspring assembly is bad. If the horn does work, then the clockspring assembly or the cruise control switch is bad.
Ok well the horn works just fine so I guess its the clockspring assembly doesnt work...what would I have to do to fix it? Is this an expensive part or is it decent? Would it be best to get a pro to fix it or is it something easy to fix? I dont really need the cruise control but dang it is much more easier to use on the highways around here!
does anyone have an owners manual that might be able to send me the setup for the fuses? I dont have a manual and I have no idea what fuses are what, any help with this would be awesome! I need to atleast know what fuse it is that works the cruise control so I can change it to see if thats why my cruise control isnt working.
no, I havent had the car for long, I have had it for a year now, I havent touched anything electrical on it except for like the stereo system I have in it and putting new lights on the front. Other than that nothing has been touched electrically. I bought the car with out the cruise control working so there is no telling hw long it hasnt been working.
