Just wanting to make sure this message got out to as many as possible:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
As many of you are aware, there is a proposed sound ordinance that will limit noise levels after a certain time in Madison county. The proposed ordinance is mainly targetted at the Huntsville Dragway, but it will also affect the Huntsville Speedway. It will also affect any event that has any noise level, even when not a motor sport.
Here are some links to some articles about the issue:
al.com: Everything Alabama
al.com: Everything Alabama
This ordinance, while proposed to limit sound at certain times and at certain events, opens the door for other types of legislation that will adversly affect the car and bike scene here in Huntsville.
I would like to urge you to come and take a few minutes out of your day to come to the commission meeting. The commission has no idea how many people this decision can affect. Let's make them take a head count and understand the magnitude of this legislation.
The Madison County Commission Board Meeting will be held Monday May 1st 10am-12pm 7th floor of the Madison County Courthouse in downtown Huntsville (100 Northside Square)
Hope to see you there!
-John

though our sound ordinances mean jack shit when youre in the middle of the country fields, which is where almost every drag strip or track ive been to is located.
even cali doesnt have laws like that, and if we do, i think its mostly things like you cant use a jackhammer in the middle of suburbia hell from 10 at night to 7 in the morning.
now id start complaining when they bring out the OBDII AND sniffer testing.

That track used to be out of the way, nobody lived close.
Then they were like, hey, room, make house, sell, yes.
So now they bitch.

exactly...i thought the speedway was closed for that very reason...guess i heard "talk" of it possibly closing.
People are selling their cotton fields left and right to builders to build houses for old people and rocket scientists cause the farmer knows he can make a boat load of cash driving the price of land up in the county since no one wants to live inside city limits anymore...Well in all this selling and building they put up full neighborhoods next to the dragstrip and speedway then people complain because it is so noisy friday and saturday nights there. Well the more that complain the closer they get to being closed down. Dumbasses obviously didnt pay attention to what was around them before buying the house. I wish the strip and speedway would sue the people complaining for the fact that they have been there longer and the people still built the house next to a fawking dragstrip.
Guess I need to go out there some time and what the drags since ive not once gone and the way things go around here I may not ever if i dont got soon.
kinda like the damn smoking laws. All smoking or all non, catch is if you choose smoking then customers have to be 19 to get in.
