All I've EVER heard was 89. That's why I always assumed it was so hard to find 88-89 5.0's, ESPECIALLY notchbacks.. MAF with forged pistons. Take 125 shot or 10 lbs of boost all day....
my 1992 stock motor had forged pistons in it.. was an early build, built 09/91 though

Yeah, '92 was the last year to have them. '93s were hypereutectic (SP?). If I'm not mistaken... some of the very early '93s were still forged?
As you know typically the factory will use up remaining stock on the next year even if there is a change. Case in point. Sometime in the 98 factory run on engines the 99 3.8 short block was used in the 98 cars
