Just bought a pair of these for my rear 18x10 inch rims in 295/35/18. I must say they're amazing. For 225 at the local firestone store, these tires are incredible... they have a great tread pattern, have amazing wet traction, dry traction is loads better than the Goodyear F1 supercar's I had before, and they have that rim protector in case of an accidental meeting with a curb or deep pothole. I cant say how they'll be for tire life, but so far theyre incredibly quiet, and worth every cent. Tire Rack has them for 189 bucks right now, and IMO theyre a steal... here they are:

wow man, those look good... if I get the car I'm wanting, I may have to get them after I do the complimentary destroying of rear tires.

why?
Theyre not only the correct size, they also have a curb guard. The curb guard is what makes them look like theyre stretched...

hit a curb and test it out, 245/45/17s on 17x8 rims can still be curbed as i see many gts like this sadly

Is it THAT bad to have something extra there just in CASE it might happen? Ever heard of preventative maintenance?

Have you heard of defensive driving and staying between the lines!!! Hitting curbs is for weenies and girly men. The last three sets of tires I had had protruding rubber ridges to prevent curb scrapes. Never needed them
I run the mountains I hate tire roll. That is what you get when you have to much rubber sticking out beyond the rim. You need to look at european sport cars they dont seem to have problems with curbs and their rims are flush against the tire.

Ok, you really need to drop the "girly curb hitter" thing. Im not saying Im gonna hit curbs, and for the european sports cars, let them have their tiny tires. Ill stick with a little bit of sidewall. What you dont realize is by having a 35 profile tire, I actually have less flex than your 45 profile tire. Personally, the one or two times a month I might take my car through turns real fast and might need anything with less flex is not enough to sacrifice 150+ bucks if I accidently brush up against a curb. NOBODY is perfect, and theres nothing wrong with having protection on your wheels. Lets just leave it at that... you like your stretched tires, almost anyone else likes protection on their rim. Done.

No they don't looked stretched... but they're not 9" wide wheels either.

You are doing fine I just was goating you on a little bit
No you have the right size tires for 17X9's . Do you know why the V6 and Gt rub more with large front tires?????? The Cobra has a different size plastic fender well cover. I found this out with my accident back before Christmas

Danger Dude you’ve got a nice looking Stang there. What size tires and rims do you have mounted and what year is your Mustang?
I have a ‘98 GT coupe with 16x7 five star alloys and 225/55R16’s tires all around on it now. I would like to get a set of ‘98 or ‘99 Cobra 17x8 OEM wheels and mount a set of 245/45WR17’s all around… or better still I’d really like to mount a set of 255/45ZR17’s on the 17x8 wheels all around if I have enough room up front. The GT isn’t lowered yet but I might want to in the future. Would/could a 2” drop be an issue with the 255’s up front? Any thoughts are greatly appreciated from you guys.
Been reading this thread so often over the past few days I’m a little numb with rim, tire sizes and who has what size tire mounted on what size rim. I’ve come to realize that there are clearance differences in the wheel wells of different year Stangs. I can appreciate the fact that someone with a newer Stang can run larger width rubber up front without any issues… or hardly any at all. Anyone have a ’98 GT out there dropped or undropped with “big” rubber up front with no issues?... and on what size wheel?
Zim sorry if it seems like I’m hijacking your thread… I don’t mean to. It just seems like you’ve got such good info on this thread already it would be redundant if I started a new one. Thanks.
