ok, I have mentioned this before. There is a Saleen selling, and I may be purchasing it. I have a decent amount to put towards it, and I really want it, so we'll see what happens. Anyway, that is not at the heart of this post. I'm wondering several things, and as such, will post several questions in this post.
This is what I have 'planned' for my first basic mods. Nice cold air intake (not eBay), 3.73 gear kit, including x-cal 2, aluminum drive shaft. Those 4 will happen as soon as I get the car... like over this summer. Now, the next two mods may happen when I come home for the summer.
Mac Long Tube Headers, yes, I realize how much of a pain they are to do... and then SLP shorty catted x-pipe. I think those will really help make my exhaust 'liven' up. After this, I would probably take a break to raise some funds.
The next area would be the engine, and I really want to build a solid engine. Not completely rebuild the engine, hopefully, but I guess it depends on how much $$ we're talking about spending. I am still hearing opinions on this too. I will want a cobra crankshaft, heads forged dish pistons, and cams. here is the point where someone can help fill in for me... all this to eventually get to the point of buying the Saleen supercharging kit. I may save up until I can buy ALL the engine mods at once, including the Saleen supercharger.
I'm wondering these questions. is the gearing of 3.73 a decent enough gear for both the N/A aspect and the SC aspect of the car, or should I consider a different gear? Zim said 4.30's... I don't know about that though. Also, what other engine stuff should I look at? Would an aluminum fly wheel be worth getting? I would probably get a stage 2 clutch before I did all those engine mods too, just to make sure I don't blow stuff up... basically, just looking for input here. Feel free to go a little crazy with advise, I will listen to all of it.

skip the driveshaft unless something is wrong with the one on there. It really won't help you much. There are much better mods for your dollar.
NA aspect and SC aspects? the car is either one or the other. I'd say 4.10s NA, or 3.73s with a blower, stock gears if it's a KB or turbo
the cobra crank is only really needed if you go over 500 or so rwhp, the GT crank will take a lot of abuse, it's the pistons and rods that are the weak link.

I've never heard of VRS, I've only heard of SLP... thought they were pretty good. 4.10's can be gotten for my car for $20 more than the 3.73's I think.

I want an engine and drivetrain strong enough to handle the power... no weak links.

I'd prefer to keep it 2V, I know it sounds wierd, but I want to have the Saleen supercharger... just to keep it all Saleen. And you may have to post up some links when I get to the point of wanting to build the engine.

I found the VT site... $7000 is a decent amount for an engine. And if I go supercharged, I will get the Saleen supercharger.

if yiu have a fully built mtor the saleen supercharger wont let you even come close to full potential. Might as well just build a N/A engine.

you can get a shortblock built to withstand 900 hp from DSS for around $3k, but you will have to buy a few more accessories for it. so the final price with your stock heads will be around $3500-4000
Remember, you will have to upgrade your fuel system to handle any major power additions, up to 400 rwhp an svt focus pump and 42 lb injectors will do the job, but above that you have to drop a bit more coin. if I start pushing more power I'll go with an 03 cobra fuel tank and a KB BAP along with some 60# injectors

yeah, that's a bit better as far as pricing goes... though I'd get better heads than stock. And yeah, before I started in on swapping engines, I would change out the fuel system. Assuming the 30/32 lb injectors that come with the supercharging kit wouldn't be adequate, hahaha. But, I added some stuff up last night, and if I get the car for what I think I will, I will have enough to go ahead and get my 3.73's, x-cal 2, cold air intake, bbk headers, and the high flow catted x-pipe all very soon after I get the car. Then, it has some rims that look kinda like the 05 rims, but I don't really like them, so I would think about swapping them out for some 18x9/18x10 hypercoated FR500's... and then sell the rims that are on it. I hope I get it, and I hope my digital camera will start working again if I do, so I can post pics.

its gonna get expensive if you do it right, just the nature of the business. You should be able to get your gt into the low 13s pretty cheap though, is it a manual?
