Hmm...they make it sound so simple. It makes perfect since, and it makes you wonder why it hasn't been developed before...

I bet they're gonna cost at least a couple cents more than the blowers we have now though if they do eventually come out...
More parts + more R&D = more money

Fixed it for ya... I have seen stuff about prototypes but this is cool!
It will be higher speed at low RPM and lower speed (to avoid overboost)
at higher RPM's... This type of boost response has been available for years
by using a huge centrifugal and a progressive wastegate, but parasitic losses
would be higher than stepping the blower speed down with the 2 speed unit.
Neat!

There is some sort of European car company like Volvo or something that has done some similar r&d with turbos. It essentially eliminated turbo lag completely and they actually had a few production vehicles. I'll try to find out what company it was exactly, it was a pretty big name.

Ok, it was Porsche. They were called "variable geometry turbochargers".

Thats nothing new at all.
Chrysler used those back in the late 80's/early 90's, called the VNT. Also, a lot of ford diesels use them.

Yes, I believe Porsche invented the technology in `85.

I am not sure where they used it but they developed the tech first, they may not have implemented it just made it up~ they may have though... not sure.
GM was the first to create an operating system as well.
