mustang problems??

hello..
im having some problems with my mustang, sometimes when start it i turn the key but nothing happens, the battery is good and theres no strange noises, its just dead but when i try a couple of times the engine finally starts..
and the other thing is that the needle that shows speed sometimes stops at 60 mph altough im driving alot slower.. it usually happens when i decrease speed..
any help would be appriciated //marcus..
its a 1995 3,8 by the way...

im not sure about the starting...but with the needle...did you put in aftermarket over lays?...the white guages...cuz i had that problem to when i put mine in

i bought the car 3 months ago so i dont really know.. but the white gauges how can they affect the needle.. do i really need to buy new gauges??

If the car has white face gauges, they aren't stock. Your needles may just be pushed down too far, this can be fixed with a needle puller and applying slight pressure to pull the needle out slightly.

yup, if the needles are pushed down to far they can stick, they can also stick or not move due to not being pushed down enough. The amount of light that you see under the needle is also determined by this. They sould be up off of the gauge face by a little bit to ensure they can move freely, do NOT pull that sucker off though if its accurate or you will have to go drive down the road at XX mph and put it back on lol. Just ease it up a bit (VERY CAREFULLY) and if you need help getting the clear plastic off let me know, the hardest part is the stupid light knob.

When you try to crank it and nothing happens... does the starter even try to engage?

The first thing I always check when a car won't start is the battery cables, just because the ones on my fox are always corroded and give me problems. Get a battery terminal cleaner and clean the posts and cable ends. Strange things can happen when they are corroded.

no the starter doesnt engage, but all the cables look nice.. and they arent corroded or anything, the battery is only one year old.. maybe the previous owner bought a battery to small or something like that.. could it matter??
thanks for all the other answers!! i live in sweden and the mustang is an unusual car here. so its really hard getting any info.. ford sweden has never sold mustangs so they cant help you with anything..
but i like my american car.. all my friends drive volvo!!!

You would never know if the cables were corroded internally. Wat you do is have someone wiggle the wire while you try to start it. The other thing is the starter solenoid or even the key switch is going bad
