Sometime between when I got back to work from lunch (12:00) and the time I left (4:50), a bird that must have been the size of a 747 dropped a huge bomb right on the hood of my ride. Took the car home, pulled out the hose and the soap and washed it off. I tried to just hose it off, but it must have been baked on, 'cause some of it just didn't want to let go. So anyway, I get it off and towel it dry and I notice that I can still see where it was. So I washed it again. I can still see where it was. So I break out the clay. I can still see where it was. I washed it one more time, and the spot is still there. WTF? It hasn't been that long since I waxed the car, so it doesn't seem like it should have damaged the clear coat. How do I get this out? Cleaner wax maybe?

Actually depending on what the bird ate, it could have eaten through your clearcoat in that short a time. If it ate a lot of berries for example it's droppings could be acidic enough to do that.
Just think how painful your poo feels after eating Mexican food.

A guy on LS1.com suggested I try Meguires Scratch-X. Looks like it's some sort of polish. Going to hit it with that this afternoon. I'll let y'all know how it works.

if that doesnt work you could try some 3m rubbing compount, perfect it II clear coat safe (ONLY 3M and only the clear coat safe stuff) its more abrasive but its not THAT bad.

I might have to try that stuff. Hit it with the Scratch-X, twice, just a little while ago. It helped, but you can still see the spot. I'll try the 3M rubbing compound and, if it doesn't work, I may just call the body shop and get them to hit it with the orbital buffer. Since I've (unfortunately) been a frequent customer here recently, they'll probably do it for free.

its close to that but not sure thats it. My big bottle is hard to read it got hot and expanded messing up the sticker on the side. If its clear coat safe 3m you should be good.
