Actually, they had 'em all the way up to '93. Just not turbocharged. With a pathetic (and I can say that 'cause I used to drive one and my dad still owns it)... 105 hp.

What's even worse is the earlier models until '91 ony had 88 hp...

different ranges of mustangs and ford had/have the 2.3,

N/A fox mustangs
Turbo Coupe/ XR7 Cougars with 2.3T
some of the 79 indy pace cars/cobras were 2.3/2.3T
And up until like 83-84 you could buy a mustang GT Turbo with the 2.3T im missing alot but yea wide used motor.

My friend phil had a white notcback 5 speed with the 2.3

He got an 8.8 with 4.10's and put it in the thing, it had some punch to it, but nothing on the highway really.
