I have a 99 v6 mustang and I cant get rid of my check engine light. It reads p0301 "cylinder one misfire". I've replaced plugs, wires, coil pack and both O2 censors!! anybody know how to fix this!?!?!?!
This is my theory based on my research.1999-2000 Mustang 3.8L Valve covers allow excess oil to pass into intake manifold through the PCV valve causing excess carbon build up in combustion chambers especially #6 & #3.This leads to pre ignition of 87 octane fuel possibly causing misfire codes. Also engine hesitates and engine rattles when accelerating and climbing.2001 valve cover should reduce the oil intake problem.decarbonize the engine with seafoam or BG 44k and possibly run higher octane should fix the problem.I'm trying this solution first. After I smog my car I'll add an inline oil seperator on the PCV to eliminate oil feedback. Also,I lose about a quart of oil every 500-750 miles.Any Ford techs think this maybe a cause?
