Hey all, I have a 02 V6 with the following mods: Magnaflow Y pipe dual exhaust, Cai(ebay), 3.73 gears and an auburn posi unit for the 7.5 rear-end, steeda tri-ax, and a custom burned chip from VMP mustang. So, I know there is this big list about the order of mods, but, wanted some imput for my specific wants. I would like to keep my car N/A, so I won't think of a SC unless I can get a hell of a deal on it. My car is also my daily driver, so yeah! What about h/c/i for my next mod? lowering springs? what do you all think of the 3.8-4.2 swap? Worth it? worth it for me with the mods listed? what kind of gains with that swap? Anything else I should know? Basically the best way ot mod my car(keepin' it a daily driver with some track time) and the safest way to go about it....
Cheers,
James

a h/c/i swap is a nice upgrade, most see good numbers from it, I would say 230-250rwhp~ or somewhere in there (for manual) If you are considering a 4.2 stroker just buy a spare motor and build it up good then drop it in.

what gains can I expect from a 4.2? What differences? What if I bought a h/c/i package and then switched to a 4.2...would those parts swap over, or would i have buy a new h/c/i package?

the only items you really need to go from a 3.8 to a 4.2 is the crank and rods so the heads/cam/intakes will be fine. The only factor that could come into play is the compression rate~ but I doubt you will run anything very high and you would have to get aftermarket pistons to do that anyway~
Gains are subjective I would say with a NA build 4.2 with a very good cam/heads/intake package you should see 260rwhp-290rwhp~ or so maybe 300~ just depends on specifications. Thats for full blown NA for a blower setup even in the future your cam and heads/intakes may have to be done a bit different.
