i was wondering (since im pretty much new to this 5.0 thing) if a cobra intake manifold would fit? also would a gt front bumper from 89-93 fit a lx coupe? my front bumper needs replacing, and i found a guy who will sell it to me.. would those two fit?

The intake will. I believe the bumper will also "fit" but will look incredibly stupid for a number of reasons, the main one being that the moldings on the GTs and LXs are actually different sizes. So, the size of the "molding" on the front bumper will no longer match the size of the ones going down the side of the car.
Besides, LX coupes are too clean of a car to need body mods. Maybe a small cowl hood, but that's it. I've seen coupes with the full GT body kit, and they just do not look right.

The cobra intakes fit any 5.0, 94-95 needs the elbow adapter or a custom
air inlet tubing made for it. If you are saying you want to put a 89-93 front
bumper on your sig pic car then forget it, it looks stupid even if done "properly".
Keep the 79-93 parts on 79-93 cars only

The cobra intakes fit, but you have to use both the upper and lower intake. For example, just a cobra upper intake wont fit on the GT lower. Its an all or nothing deal. They will bolt up to the GT heads though.

so what is the main difference between the cobra's motor and the regular 5.0 aside from the amount of BHP its pushing out? or it is a 5.8? iknow the 95 are the 5.8's (cobra R)..
yeah i agree those gt bumpers would look dumb on the coupe.. what the hell was i thinking! maybe its because i havent slept in a while eversince i got the 5.0.. i just want to do everything to it.. haha i just replaced the accuators for it..smogged it and registered it.. might i add that the car passed with flying colors..better then my original car..

5.0 Cobra engine differences:
GT40 Heads (1.84/1.54 valves, better exhaust port design).
GT40 cast aluminum intakes (Cobra) Staggered round port.
Different Cam, still a wimpy FMS-style grind with waaay slow ramps
That's the major stuff, it also had a slightly higher CR like 9.5:1 I think.

The Cobra also had 24# injectors a different mass air, a different ECU, and a 65mm throttle body. They still had the same CR of 9.0:1.
Also, the intake on them wasn't actually a "GT40 intake". They came with the "Cobra intake". The GT40 intake was released a couple of years later and has the tubular runners.

1. Yep, those are the support pieces for the HP parts I listed. Thx BBunt
2. GT40 pre-dated the cast Cobra intakes, the Cobra version was a low-buck type
for the mass-produced cars. I shoulda put it in quotes like I did after quoting it
cuz you are right, there was not a "cast GT40"

Do you happen to know when the tubular GT40 intake came out and what it was used for? I tried searching for it on Google and couldn't find anything. I'm just interested to see what they originally intended it for.

I'm thinking maybe 1989 or very early 90's, in fact, the ?SCCA? White/Blue
collector car had it from the customizer... I'm thinking that was a 25th
anniversary model??? It was not a Ford built car, more like a tuner car.
It was highly sought after, about the only game in town was Ford and Saleen.
Rich Kopek, I think, got #001... It was a car in honor of Carroll Shelby.
I'll google some things, and get back to ya!

Can't really find anything, but it was a 295 BHP 5.0 engine.
It WAS the SAAC Shelby American Auto Club, and it's
spelled Kopec, he was president at the time this special
"Shelby" tuner car was built, by the club, not the MAN. But
it was a very sweet version and CS put his stamp of approval
on it as I rremember. Later, CS and Ford got back together.
Try SAAC and 1989 or 1990 Shelby Mustang...

25th anniversary model was stock with an emblem on the dash.. nothing else.. I have GT40s.. and I'm putting down 373 HP to the wheels.. port matched, nothing else... on a rather mild 331 build..

all the v8s are 2 legged..they just have shitty gears. 2.73 is the majority and 3.08 was a option with AOD cars I believe. might be another ratio but can never find any. So whatever it is, unless the owner put in different gears, count on 2.73s.
