the viper is at the bottom of the food chain at the moment, the z06 laughs at it, ceiling cat judges it... its sad really. Maybe they will do something right with it this go around.

To me that looks like a cross between the old Vipers, a catfish Camaro, and the new Vettes. Oh yeah, and a Mazda Miata for the back end. Kinda boring...

that car sucks... plain and simple. horrible styling. Maybe the worst one yet. You have the classic Viper things there... and just body filler in between... if you're gonna drop in the neighborhood of $65-$70k for a car, it better make you nut just looking at it.

The new vipers don't do anything for me. I agree with everybody else the mid 90's where the best. There is a mid '90s viper that we allways wash at the carwash I work at, it's so choice.

Bottom of what food chain??? It is the third fastest car made in the US and still one of the fastest cars in the world especially for the price. I think you have food chain on the brain.

Ford GT 550hp 11.2 1/4
Z06 505hp 11.5 1/4
Viper 500hp 11.7 1/4
The difference between the Viper and a Z06 is a drivers race

I thought the Z06 was quicker. I know in a road race, the Z06 is supposed to out perform the GT... but the Viper sucked it up in all the road tests, and in the 1/4 too... braking was kinda sad... as was the skid pad

hmmm, I thought I remembered seeing a little different write up. Possibly a different comparison? Maybe I just didn't remember it correctly. The sad thing is how the Ford GT can be price $80,000 above them, but still perform "near" the same. I'd call a second or two different "close" in a road race.

The late-90's GTS Coupe Vipers were some of the baddest assedest cars ever to roll off an assembly line. I'd scoop one up in a heartbeat. It looks like they're moving back in the right direction with this new one, but that hood. That hood is a monstrosity. Bleh.

the reason viper sells so much is cause of the name...
when someone see's a viper, they go, SHIT LOOK AT THE VIPER, when people see a corvette, its an ordinary car, and see it on the street regularly, only someone who knows cars knows what a z06 is and what not... same thing with a mustang.... but a ford gt, no one sees it regularly.

I have driven a 05 Viper and a 05 Z06 Corvette. The bottom line is the Corvette is a nimble, fast and refined machine as compared to the vettes of old. The Viper is pure muscle in a old Muscle car sense. It is loud, you feel everything. It is much more raw in a Harley kind of way. In saying that I will say the first Vipers were almost unbearable especially on long distances they vibrated and would jar you with every bump in the road and there was no excaping the side exhaust. At WOT you could not think and a radio was useless. But I still liked it.
So the Vette vs the Viper is a battle between Sophistication vs Brawn
And if you dont think brawn is important just look at Barrett Jackson auctions and look at what Cuda Baracuda's and other true muscle cars go for now!!!!

the man speaks the truth. my uncle has 2 vipers(one of the first ones to roll off the lot, then last years model srt10 or whatever), and both of them are equally insane, though his older one was a little slower than the 03 cobra we test drove, but then again, apples to oranges.
id take the raw brawn over sophimistacation anyday of the week. a real mans car isnt supposed to be smooth and desensitizing, its supposed to be rough, loud and uncomfortable.
