Here lately something has been wrong with my car and its quite embarrassing! I'll get in, try to crank it but it wont, I'll try again and it won't, it ususally take 3 times.... and by this time I'm ready to kick the crap out of it. I thought maybe it needed new spark plugs so I changed them... still wont crank correctly. It only does it sometimes. Then I thought maybe its the gas.... I dunno. What the hec is it?

Make sure your new plugs are gapped, also how long since the air filter been
changed.
Does this happen whenever you try to start it? First thing in the morning? When the car is aready hot?

Is it when it's warm driven already, or cold first thing in the morning?

I would check your battery. I had crazy stuff like that happening to me when one of the modules was pulling a tiny amount of power from my battery and slowly drained it. I was also able to drive from place to place, but then not have it work the next turn over.

Clean your air filter and see if it helps. Besides that I would check the plugs and wires as forementioned.

If it does this more often after you have been driving it around for a while, it is very likely the starter going out. When they get too hot, they will often have a hard time cranking.
When this happens, does the car try to turn over and just doesn't?

i'll tell you exactly what it is. fuel pump. mine does the same thing. found out from a mustang mechanic that there is what he called a check valve in the fuel pump. it sticks, thus letting the fuel pressure back off instead of keeping constant pressure. until you replace it cycle the key 3-4 times before you start it. off on off on etc. then start. makes it easier. hope this helps ya.

My 01 was having a problem like this on Friday. Hasn't happened again but I'll keep my eye on it.
