I knew there was a reason I didn't go to this store... besides costing me $5 more for my oil change stuff, they FUCKED UP MY ORDER. I walk in, ask them what oil filter I need for my car... told them 2002 Mustang GT... he said "ok"... then he asked me "that's an 8 cylinder right?"... "yeap"... he then goes and gets my oil filter. First off, they don't carry the oil I usually get how I get it (in 5 qt. jugs)... I have to buy it in 1 qt. containers. Well, retard comes back with the Motorcraft FL400S... I go "hey, cool, it uses the same filter as my old v-6"... him: "yeah, Ford likes to keep all their filters about the same on their engines"
me: "yeah ... ok"
he rings it up... it comes up to almost $18... I about shit when I saw the price... but I said "well, I'm in town, and I don't know where O'Reilley's is.. so I guess I'll just get it, since it'd cost me $5 in gas to go to O'Reilley to get my stuff.
Well... I tried to change my oil tonight... everything's going fine, until I try to put the new filter on. It won't go. I get all sorts of pissed, come inside, look up the RIGHT filter... yeah, it's FL820S... SOB, I am so pissed off right now. So, I guess I get to drive my dad's truck to the nearest O'Reilley's to get the RIGHT oil filter... and sell this one to my brother.
I would've known what the right filter was.. except, this is my first oil change in my GT. /rant

see, here they have a computer... they just click about 3 times.. and they can tell you the exact thing you need. Now, I have the filter memorized, and I won't ever have to ask again.

Intelligent enterprising people look it up for themselves.
It's the stupid drunk lazy rednecks that come in asking for a filter.
That and a Cadillac converter for a Oldsmobile Bruick. I'm dead serious.

A word to the wise, never go into a chain parts store without having the correct part number prior to entry. Disaster could result. I don't care if it's for a wiper blade: know what you need before you get there.

It's just like a grocery store. The cashier wont be able to tell you how long to simmer your Pasta Bake after defrosting. They hire people that will work. The people that dont know should not be allowed to give advice.

well, it gets better... AutoZone also said 5 quarts of oil would be all I needed... too bad I need 6... so I get to baby the car all the way into town (15 minutes) to get another quart... as I'm all out at home ...
also, I asked because they have a computer program that tells them... and it's just faster for them to look it up than for me to look it up in a book... and they were closing in 5 minutes.

There is this wonderful thing called an owners manual. You should check it out. The education potential is limitless.

yea I went at my last oil change... they told me delco makes fords oil filters after I told them ford brand filter is what I wanted. Then they told me they didnt have it...
I went to the back after the person left and picked up my filter as to not be an ass and purchased it. Go pick the stuff up yourself and save them the hassel and well you the hassel.

yeah, I do typically just pick up the stuff myself, but I didn't know what filter I needed... and hadn't thought about it until I was in the store... well, now I know, and I won't need to ask.

i will never take my car to an oil change place again... everytime i go i just get the impression that i know more about what i am doing, which is pretty scarey. The one time i took my car, they stalled it and spun my tires because the guy obviously didnt know how to drive a stick.... i was quite pissed. yesterday i tried to change my gf's oil and the place that changed it last put the oil pan bolt on so tight that i couldnt get it with a breaker bar... they got it so tight that its bending the metal around the bolt. im going to that place today and making them loosen it so i can actually get it off. very aggravating... i just hope they didnt mess anything up.
