NEED ADVICE on 2006 Mustang GT Body and clear coat

Please guys anyone have the same issues as I do with your new Mustang gt?? I just got my 2006 Mustang GT Convertable and upon close inspection of my car I notice all these slight ripples and imperfections in the body and clear coat which makes the body look slightly dented or rippeled. This is driving me crazy almost to the point where I am ready to sell the car with 100 miles on it. Is it me or has anyone else seen this too. I was told by one guy that the convertables especially will show little ripples due to weld marks and pulls on the body from braces. Is this true??? Very aggravated. I haven't noticed anything on mine other than one small place on the passenger rear quarter, where it looked like the dealer tried to buff it for some reason.

I haven't heard anyone else with this issue either. Have you pointed these things out to the dealership you bought it from?

I doubt they would be helpful (at all), but it's worth a shot.

Any way you can get some close up pictures of what it looks like?

Mine is in the same location Pass rear quarter panel Actuall you cant see the ripple straigh on you can only notice it when you look down the body panel and at a certain height to catch the light in the ripple. I may be making a big deal of something that may be normal I just wanted to know if any other Convertable 06 GT owners noticed simular ripples

Try taking a little finishing compound and going over the area. Just make sure it is NOT rubbing compound, rubbing compound WILL leave scratches. What I used on mine was 3M Finishing Compound (designed to take out scratches 1000+ grit I believe), and it's barely even visible now, even in the right light.

If it makes you feel safer, just go over it with a regular car polish, which will probably accomplish the same goal.

What you are describing does sound a lot like the way mine was though. I just assumed it was something that happened on the lot, because I just recently bought my '06 and it had been sitting at a dealership for a while.

Yeh thanks for the advice I will prob leave it alone seems like there are a few out there with this issue. Seems that guy was right maybe its from the factory welds pulling on the metal quarter panel for re enforcment on the convertables. Yours is a convertable also?? Even though mine came right from factory and sat at the dealer for a day there was however a door ding and I had that fixed by the Dent Doctor who rubbed it out to nearly flawless but you still detect the slightest clear coat blemish

r u talking like this? thats called orange peal, it happens on cheap paint and or a poor paint job (ie prep and bad clear coat work)

my sister's stang actually had a thumbprint on the panel over the door when she got it, she took it back, and they replaced the piece...when she got the new piece, it had a chip in it lol, so they sent that back and got her a third piece...its covered under warrenty if theres something wrong with the paint

I have a vert and my car is the same as my black hardtop was no issues. The paint will have orange peal its the way ford does it... as far as ripples the only place I have issues is the rear bumper under the tag (As all 99-04 stangs do) and the door (also all 99-04 do)

I would get them to show you the same problem on another convertible to replicate the problem if they cant then its that car and they will have to fix it.
