Got my V8 sound back but ???

OK I took someones advice and went strait true duals a few weeks ago and noticed no great difference other than I lost my quiet but V8 sound with that horrible 3 cylinder per bank idle. So an $29.00 later E Bay X pipe take off and $25 to weld it in at my favorite muffler shop and the old sound is back better than ever with a noticeable difference in pickup whew!
BUT This 5 speed automatic is wierd easy on the pedal and shifts are right on and rock solid. Get on it or downshift for power and the computer has a mind of it's own may or may not down shift depending on speed and RPM's or decides to just go down one gear instead of two, what the hey?
Has anyone reprogrammed the auto using either the Xcal or Diablo and was it worth it? did it really make a difference on the basic stock 05 STANG. I know it does if your running boost snf mods but will It really help the auto shift and anything else?
I need some real experience on this not thoughts, thanks.

I don't have an 05, but when I put a chip on my auto it was a very very noticeable difference. Fast, crisp shifts. Downshifts almost instantaneously, upshifts a ton faster. If I floor it, it shifts very aggresive, otherwise it just shifts faster than normal.
With the xcal2 you can actually go through and change the firmness of the shifts to how you want them to feel.

Principal is the same tho. The X-cals are very good at picking up your auto and I would strongly recommend them for any auto but most certainly a Ford auto regardless of the car.

The 05 and up really benefit from reprogramming.

its an auto. itll never respond the way you want it to. either have to get used to it, or get a manual car.

You would be suprised what a good tune will do for it though. I can honestly say my automatic shifts about as perfect as I could ask.

The one thing I would prefer to have a maunal over an auto is the ability to launch at a higher rpm. That's all. A tuned auto is much more comfortable and efficient than a manual IMO. However, a manual can be a little more fun to "play with".

Get a REAL tune on a dyno from a very good tuner or dont waste your money.

Don't just get one with the factory canned tunes, call Doug over at bamachips.com and get his XCAL2. He does 3 custom tunes on it (I chose 89 performance, 93 performance and 93 torque), and tell him you want the shift points firmed up and the silly throttle-by-wire lag taken out. You will truly be amazed at how much better your car runs and drives. My car shifts hard enough now to chirp the tires while running through the gears. He can tune for any CAI you may have, or for the stock box too.

I have had chips and shift kits, don't know if there is a shift kit available for the new five speed auto or not, but if there is, go with it, not that much, and a whole world of difference.
