i dont see why you guys think drifting is so gay... is it because they put it in a fast and furious movie? if someone wants to race their car like that, i dont see the problem with it (i am not supporting 16 year old kids you want to drift their mom's honda). i personally think drifting would be a blast... its not that different from other kinds of racing.

Drifting is an entertainment show, not easy im sure, but its not a sport. Its just a way to amuse yourself and pass the time. I personally think its pretty stupid.

I think it is closer to a sport than drifting....however I find it hard to say that anything involving driving a sport.
None the less, the problem with drifting is, the winner is determined by judges. It isn't a cut and dry decision as to who is the winner because it is based on opinion and what people see.
Drag racing, on the other hand, you either get out the end first or you don't. No grey area there. Same holds true for autocross, short track, and nascar. You either win or don't.
It's a lot like comparing gymnastics and track. Gymnists run a lot and such...and get judged. We all know how flawed that judging system can be...Sprinters win by getting out the end first.
Drifting is merely an entertainment like Spec said. The goal is to entertain the crowd kind of like the X-Games. The cooler you look, the better your score. |
