How many horses would I free up with BBK shorty headers and a 70mm Throttle body w/spacer. My 93 5.0 is stock except for BBk cold air, Mac H Pipe, and 2 chamber Flows. What would my estimated Hp be?

First off.A 70mm throttle body is too big for a stock 302.You don't need it.If you wanna upgrade then I'd suggest the 65mm tb.You'd be very lucky if you picked up 10 rwhp.

What if I threw this on it also...More than just a basic bolt on, I know I'll need bigger injectors, etc. Help me out here

Competition Cams Xtreme Energy Cam and Lifter Kits: CCA-K35-522-8 - summitracing.com

I like the idea of my power band be a little higher in the RPM's

That cam is way too big for a stock motor.

By moving your powerband up in the RPMs on a stock motor, you are effectively going to make your car slower. The reason being, your current heads and intake are not capable of flowing enough air to make any decent amount of power at higher RPMs. The 5.0L HO cam is actually a decent cam for the parts it was designed to run with.

If you really want to move your powerband up, start saving up for a decent pair of heads and then work from there. A set of AFR 165s on a stock motor will make a lot more power than the little nickel and dime mods that can quickly add up to the same $1300.

Thanks for the input... learning more as I go Along. What heads and Intake would outfit the comp cam package. I was looking at a 351 Stroker, but all the extra work is a little out of my price range. I'm looking for 350-400 out of my 5.0.

To make it reliably and if that is the 350-400 rwhp you are gonna have to go with a 302 based stroker and you'll spend 5k or more to achieve this.

Youve been very helpful in this thread

For 350-400hp, its gonna cost you a lot.

Where did you come up with that number? do you realize how much power that really is? If you go from a stock 5.0, to that much power, youll wreck it.

Agreed. A 300 rwhp fox body is a low 12-second car (given the proper supsension, driver, blah blah blah blah blah).

Simply put, it is capable of being a low 12-second car with that amount of power. Actually I've seen them down in the 11's, but who's counting?

300 rwhp can be achieved quite easily with the stock bottom end:

Good aluminum heads + custom cam + decent flowing intake + supporting parts = 300 rwhp.

Just note that "supporting parts" is a pretty damn big list and can get expensive pretty quick.

I have just enough money to do all this, and just need some pointers. I'm looking for a weekend rocket... I like the sound of a big cam. I like top end power, What would accomidate this cam and lifter set up. I have $4500 saved just for this. Is it possible to pull 400 hp with out a turbo out of the stock motor with 4500?

4500 would be cake for 300+...get a tfs(or other similar kits) h/c/i kit and a blower

btw, that cam you posted earlier, I know its already been said that its to big for a stock motor....but that wont even work in your motor regardless.

Ok I ordered my first bolt on...(65mm Throttle Body). Whats everyone think of the Trick Flow Track heat engine kit? Or the EFI Kit? Other than Trick Flow
who makes kits, and are they better? I'm ordering sometime this week... Do I need a MAF and injectors? I'll stop there, looks like you just nodded off. Too many damn questions.

If you plan for 350-400hp I would say yes, look for new MAF and injectors as your 19#ers are def. going to be maxed out. Get some 36-42lb injectors and a 75-80mm Maf, you should be good with that. If I had 4500 bucks... this is how I would mod a 5.0:

-AFR 165's $1000-1300 (You may find them used with better valve springs, etc already installed.. thats what id do)
-Some sort of custom grind cam -dunno price we'll say $250
-Edelbrock/trickflow/holley/cobra intakes $3-600
-Long tubes $?
-Exhaust $3-800
-1.7 rockers $?
-used vortech $1500

Thats what Id do building from scratch right there. Youll easily be over 350whp, probably closer to the 450 mark.

I spent about 3,500 on mine, and Im running 12.60's.The first things you need are bigger gears(at least 3:73),headers and a full exhaust. Then you should think about a nice set of drag radials, because hooking up makes all the difference in the world.
