I currently have a 98 mustang V6 with 17x9 SVT 03' Silver Rims w/ Bf Goodrich TA KDW 245 Front /275 Rear with a 1.5 drop, i noticed my stopping power is very poor altough i did swap out all rotors and brake pads (Morse brake pads front)(BBC Green stuff on rear) about 6k miles ago and i still have very hard problems braking in emergency situations and such, i been thinking bout upgrading my calipers to the 30th mustang eddition but they look the same just painted up,
Please let me know which Brake Calipers (brembo, stoptech, Cobra, etc.), Brake Rotors (brembo, stoptech, powerslot, etc), and Brake Pads are best for stopping power.

I'd recommend upgrading to the 13 inch cobra brakes in the front. You should be able to stop like you want then.

yeah but wouldnt just upgrading the rotors only make the rotors bigger??? I thought you would have to upgrade the Calipers to make your brakes work better?
would it be more stopping power? say an extra 10% or what?

The cobra brake package is rotors and calipers. By moving the braking force to a larger diameter rotor, you are increasing the braking power.

I would bleed the master cylinder and the brake lines before upgrading. It's a lot cheaper then new rotors and brakes... Unless you want to spend money and upgrade anyways that's fine but it may not be the solution.

Dude, seriously! Find some some old 99-04 front calipers and swap those on to your car. Your car currently (if they're stock) has steel-cast single piston calipers. The 99-04 calipers are aluminum-cast dual piston. You lose about 16lbs off the front end just by swapping them over. It's a direct swap also. So you can use the exsisting roters and everything. The only thing is you MIGHT have to trim you spindles down maybe 1/8" on each side to make some clearence. Other than that, it's easy as pie. I've done this myself and let me tell you the world of difference it makes. You can usually find a set of calipers for about $100-200 on ebay or on the forums.

you can swap over 99-04 v6 or GT calipers, simple bolt on (for the most part you MAY have to grind a spot on the mount to make the caliper clear is very easy to do) or you can spend 350-400 bucks to upgrade to 13 inch rotors and 99+ cobra/bullit/mach 1 caipers.

I'm with I_luv_HP&trq. You probably got some air in the line at some point. Is the pedal a little squishy?

Not just air in the line but also water. Every year a brake system can absorb anywhere from 3% to 5% water from condensation due to heating and cooling of the brakes. So in 4 years you can have up to 20% water. You can check this by how cloudy the fluid it. If it looks like choclate milk or very cloud, time to change the brake fluid. High water content in the brake fluid makes them feel spongy and requires more force on the peddal to get it to stop.

cobra brakes will be more than you will need trust me, its a world of difference. Dont buy drilled/slotted buy regular plane surfaced rotors unless you dont mind replacing them every year or two.. and having the horrid noise when stopping.

throwing parts at a problem is a backyard mechanic solution. It doesn't matter what brakes you upgrade to, if your MC isn't functioning properly then your braking power will still be poor.

well poor stopping power and a soft pedal can be caused by a dammaged seal in the MC. But you're right I don't know the whole story and what he's already done as far as maintaining and checking the braking system.
I just wanted to throw out some friendly informative advice to possibley save him some money. I don't like when people have a question and the automatic solution is to replace it. This site is better then that.
I'm not bashing the above said comments in any way because they are potentially correct, but there's more to it then buying new parts.

Don't forget if you get cobra calipers you'll need 13" roters or you won't be able to stop at all.
