It's not in the 2008 Mustang Brochures, but if you look under the 08 color chart. Highland Green is in there for Mustang. I know it it coming out for 08 model (68-08 40th anniversary model) and limited production to 1000 units. And, yes I'm sure it will go way over sticker.

A statment was put out by someone from Shelby about keeping with ford until 2010~ if sales remain good... the GT500 is not going anywhere while its making ford money. Ford makes more money off the GT500 than any other vehicle is sells in the US... WAY more than any SUV... sad but true...
I will think of buying one then they are the correct price (sticker~ or below) but until then... idiots can pay over.

Check E-bay, there was a dealer in Searcy, AR selling a new 07 vert GT 500 with a buy it now for $54,XXX. The dealer was W & W Ford. They are about 30 miles from me, so I don't know if they have any Shelby's in stock right now.

No...and I know I'm not the only one that thinks any of the current offerings with Shelby in front of them are a joke for the price.

the advantage of buying a shelby at over msrp? none, at the time this thread was started people were selling this for 50-100k over sticker, now i've seen them as low as 50k with no mark up

I dont believe anything ford or ford dealerships say anymore... its all about making money ... thats all that matters. Ford said that they would not make another bullit but guess what... they did (due to they knew they could make money on it)

Welp, they just got two in at the local stealership. 4k markup on each. I told the sales manager you can buy them at msrp elsewhere and he said they're gonna keep trying to get more.

IT's not that ALL FORD Dealers lie. It's true some dealers will say certain things to get you to take the car home on the "Spot". Thats a good way of selling someone a car, and just one car only. If you want the customer's returning business you have to be honest. Only way I was taught to do business is up front. And we are not crazy by asking over MSRP. Its the TRUE Adjusted Market value. We give good deals, but we are NOT allowed to make money sometimes? We don't make the market value, the consumer does. What started this crazy over MSRP is the guy that payed $548,000 for the first GT500. We ask for the price we think and you customers DO pay for the vehicles. I don't expect the readers of this forum to pay what we ask, because you are the gearheads that are supposed to and do know everything like myself. But a father that has millions to piss away will spend over MSRP to make their son or daughter happy. Someone would pay the $price$ to be the first one to have something. Who here has a Rolex? Having a Shelby is kind of the same concept, you know its priced high, but with you want the luxury and the status, and most importantly the performance for the money. Customers that buy Shelby's from me leave happy because at least for the money they spent, they know what they are buying and get the most out of their vehicles for their specific needs(service, after market guidance, and after sale service.) compared to someone that just made money on you and thats it. We are small time crooks compared to your lawyers and realters. Look at how much they make, we are just another human being trying to make a living like yourself.

When Ford builds a limited edition car like the GT500, the speculators go wild!
The dealers cash in on this pent up demand for the limited edition cars by marking up the cars to what the market will bear.
They are businessmen and will take advantage of any opportunity to exploit enthusiasm of people who must have the latest and greatest new car to come down the pike.

the GT500 is NOT limited, limited is we are going to make XXXX of them and thats it... the GT500 is going to be made as long as ford can make a profit lol.
At the end of the day its supply/demand for the most part. If I was selling something and I had two people that were interested. One wanted to pay sticker and the other wanted to pay twice the sticker... guess which one I would sell to.... it might make the first person mad (since the second is a dumbass) but... a fool and their money are soon parted.
I think for 43k~ a gt500 is a pretty good deal. Its not much quicker than the terminators, its much fatter than the terminators, but it has decent power/pound ratio and the potential is there. When it starts going up to 55-65k its NOT worth it when a Z06 will rape it anyway you want to measure in performance.
I wouldnt mind having one eventually~ but for now... the performance gain stock/stock really isnt amazing IMO... and they cut corners on them in the end... the interiors are just blah compared to previous SVT vehicles.

Not crooks at all.
MSRP stands for Manufactures Suggested Retail Price. If something is marked up at the Dealership too high, they'll sit on it and and up 'eating' the profits on it. It's their risk to take. If something is sold without profit, the why would they bother to sell it?
If a Dealer is a 'crook' for selling items above the MSRP (which at best can only happen for a short time) then are we, the buyers, 'theives' when we insist they sell a car to us for under the MSRP?
businesses making profits = evil
consumers taking profits = entitled
How very interesting............

My point with it is why are some staelerships still charging over MSRP for the car when you can pick it up at others for MSRP. Doesn't make much business sense to me. All they have to do is look around a little bit and they'll see you're just there to take their money.

Because there are idiots born every day. A number of people fall for the sales pitch of a rare, one time only, car. They feel that 5k is not a big deal....and figure if their dealership is marking them up, it must be happening everywhere else...which I'm sure is what they are also be fed. As long as they keep selling for over MSRP somewhere, there will always be another dealership listing them for over MSRP hoping for the same type of moron to walk through the door.
Personally, I don't think the car is worth MSRP...so at least I won't be the moron that pays over for one.

You are absolutely right in that the GT500 is not worth the $55-65k MSRP vs. a Corvette Z06. Ford is pushing the edge in trying to get that much money out of the GT500 before the additional dealer mark ups.
