My 04 mustang occasionally makes a strange thump noise. This only happens after i start it (within the 1st 20 seconds). It sounds like it is coming from below the drivers seat or maybe from below the shifter. Has anyone else had this happen and if you have what is it? Thanks for any help

I dunno man.. my 04 GT does that every so often... mine usually feels like it's below the shifter/floorboard on the driver's side too.
04 thing maybe?

You'll have to show me what you're talking about sometime. I don't think I've ever heard that before...

exactly. seems we might have the same problem.. and everytime I get someone to hear it.. it stops. Next time it starts up again I'll take it back to my mechanics and see if they can find anything. If they can find anything, I'll definitely pass it on to ya. She hasn't done it now for a month or so as well...

Yes, it's just one loud thump. I have one other question for you, what do you think about Eibach springs. I have been looking at the pro kit and i think it will really enhance the look of my car but im in boston and i worry about anything that will make winter driving worse than it already is (suprisingly it is not too bad, definatly not as bad as my 94 was!). I really appreciate any input you may have.

Eibach pro kit? I like em and plan to get a kit of my own sometime once I get the money.. I'm only looking to lower mine about an inch or so, since ground clearance is a must where I live. I've never been to Boston, much less in winter, but I don't think they'll make your winter driving worse.. when we ice down here, I have a few friends with em, and they've not had problems.. but then again, ya'll get a lot more than ice up there.. lol.
You had a 94 too.. woah. I do too. This is kinda cool.

that's the thing.. I know what you're talkin bout Spector, but this 'thump' is always under the front driver floorboard.. sometimes when it does it with mine, I can feel it under my feet... I dunno if melebop's does that though.

Is it possable that the noise could have something to do with the cats? I have not changed anything on my car yet it is still all original.

Might it be a valve in the tranny opening weirdly...? If it's under the floor board it could be resonating from the transmission~
