I was just wondering what the best way to take care of the convertible top on my 04 mustang would be. I just got it about a month ago and I figured the better I take care of it the longer it will last.

Robert, don't make me come over to your house and do something to you. I don't know what yet, but I have a few minutes to figure it out on my way over there.

Thanks for those links. I guess I should have been able to find something called Raggtopp easier than that.

I use raggtop, works very good. Spray the cleaner on the top when wet and follow the directions then spray on the protectant. Works very good.

cloth or vinyl, they should be pretty easy to distinguish. I had to use the bleach and water to really clean my top as the previous owner must have been a lazy ass.
Looks great and repels water like wax now.

raggtop has different cleaner for different types, my tops feels EXTREMLY different than vinyl and far better. Just make sure to order the right stuff no need to waste money and get the wrong type

Yes, they are considered cloth.
" Unique Black Cloth (with all exterior paint colors)" from SVT 03/04 spec sheet.

The shit that actually grows on the top is a mold. I found, believe it or not, Toliet bowl cleaner and soapy water to work great. The job of the toliet bowl cleaner is to tear apart the mold. Thus leaving you with a clean top. I'd leave it in for a min then wash it out and you will see a differnce. Don't leave it in too long though and be sure to wash it completely off your car's paint.
