when i let off my gas pedal my exhaust crackles and pops extremely loud, its way louder then it should be, is there anything i can do to fix this problem?
Is this with the flowmaster 40's? My car used to
do that when i had flowmasters too, i think its normal.
However mine was not too loud, try to post some sound clips to help determine the problem.
I've never had my exhaust setups pop. Been through about 4 setups now, just never flowmaster. It must be something in the muffler design.

Uhh.... chambered mufflers pop nowhere near as much as straight through mufflers.
I don't know where you guys are getting this one.
It's in the design of certain mufflers. I have straight throughs on my car and it doesn't pop at all, one bit. But I have a friend with flows on his 6, and it pops like there's no tomorrow.

It is in the design of a number of exhausts that when "engine breaking", it will crackle. However, some excesive crackling can be cause by an exhaust leak as well. Check all of your connection points for leaks as well.
The flows on my '90 have never popped. That's also with no cats, and moving a good amount of air.
The JBAs on the '06 (also a chambered muffler) also don't pop.
Maybe it has to do with how much exhaust is (or more importantly, is not) being moved through them and how quickly it is doing so. I know if I had turndowns on the '90, it would make a damn good leaf blower...
