finally went to a Test and Tune day. $35 to race, but there were maybe 30 cars there total, and at most, there was a 2 car deep wait in the staging lanes.
we got 12 runs before getting bored. my buddy's Stage1 Neon SRT4 broke into 13's, with a 13.998@101.294. it was his night(last track day was mine with a 14.0 consistents). i dont think track prep was that great. i always spun if i tried going WOT in 1st, so i had to feather the throttle till 2nd gear. then going into 2nd resulted in lots of spin. 3rd barked every time, compared to last time which i was barely able to spin, so my 60ft's and 1/8mi sucked ass all night
Run 1 - 14.271@100.084 - .186 r/t - 2.318 60ft.
Run 2 - 14.279@100.445 - .243 r/t - 2.309 60ft.
Run 3 - 14.278@100.191 - .124 r/t - 2.273 60ft.
Run 4 - 14.309@99.243 - .239 r/t - 2.246 60ft.
Run 5 - 14.363@99.547 - .177 r/t - 2.269 60ft.
Run 6 - Missed 3rd
Run 7 - 14.421@99.891 - .176 r/t - 2.412 60ft.
Run 8 - 14.351@99.258 - .188 r/t - 2.291 60ft.
Run 9 - 14.303@98.066 - 1.277 r/t - 2.249 60ft - they still had the pro tree from the car before us(full top fueler), and i was second to the line, so as soon as i tripped the 2nd light it turned green. this was also the run where my buddy srt4 got into the 13's. i think its cause it was more like a streetrace.
Run 10 - 14.299@99.336 - .121 r/t - 2.310 60 ft.
Run 11 - Missed 3rd again - would have been a great finish, at the end of 2nd my buddy said his srt4 wasnt catching up as it usually does, then i missed 3rd and he won.
Run 12 - 14.488@98.754 - .147 r/t - 2.354 60ft.
oh well, it was well worth the $35 to see all the real drag cars come out(most were trailered big blocks and what not, the real streetable cars accounted for maybe 10% of the cars there). but next time i go, were bringing awnings or such, cause after a couple runs in a row, its nice to come back into the pits, chill for a bit with some drinks and food, let the cars cool, before going back out.

Those are still good times for the heat. I want to go again, especially after I get my retune in about a week, but I will hold off until it gets colder again. Then I'll stick some DR's on the old 16" wheels.

its in the valley, so its pretty much the same altitude wherever youre at.
my 1/8mi is 9.3@77-79mph on every slip that i didnt miss a gear.
im still pointing towards track prep. i can bark 2nd sometimes but have never barked 3rd, and at the track i was just ripping 2nd and would spin for quite some time, and would bark 3rd. oh well, i usually go cause its fun and i like to see all the other cars. i havent done enough to this car to be concerned with timeslips.

yeah our 15$ grudge fest days arent even worth the drive. you *might* get 3 or so runs in, and at least 2 hours between them. theres no ricers saturday night since theyre all out wrapping themselves around telephone poles. do the math. average ricer runs 15 seconds. 2 cars per run. at least 100 of them, plus 25 seconds between runs for prep/staging.
100(cars) /2(2 per run) x40(seconds per run+staging/prep) /60(seconds in a minute) = ~35 minutes.
and thats just the FWD class for under 1.8L, then theres FWD 1.8-2.0L. then AWD/RWD imports. then Stock-Lightly modded Street Domestics, Moderately Modded Street Domestics, then the big block guys, then another lane for Slick users. then Motorcycles. then sometimes theres a few Top Fuelers thatll go to show off.
it was well worth the extra 20 to do almost unlimited runs. there were 2 SRT4 guys just going at it all night back and back and back, no breaks at all, they ran 32 times and left at around 8ish(arrived at 5:30 when we got there). they only left cause they both were on empty.
