Power means little to effiency.
I tested Alpine, Infinity, Boston Acoustics, Pioneer, JBL, Sony, Kenwood, Rockford Fosgate, AudioBahn, Kicker, Polk Audio and Blaupunkt in both there highend and mid price speakers. I tested others but those are not worth mentioning.
I found BA, Polk, Infinity and JBL to be the cleanest
Boston Acoustics, Polk did not have near the bass but they were clean
Alpine, Kenwood, Rockford and Kicker had the bass but not as clean highs
Pioneer, Sony, AudioBahn sucked monkey balls
Infinity Reference were the best all around clean and tight highs and lows. I will say JBL were about the same only because they are the same company and near identical design and material.
If I was going component I would havd gone with MB Quarts or Infinity Kappa and maybe Alpine.
Alpine has great electronics but the speakers are not what they are best at.
Lastly Cost. Without a doubt Infinity is also very competitive in price.
But like everything else everyone hears differently and thereby have different taste in sound. So what you might think is great might annoy others.
To each his own!!!
