Okay here's the deal. As I posted a week ago I am getting a 95 taurus for the trade of the probe I had. Now I have two options I can persue and i'm trying to decide which would be the best way to go about it. So if you could give me your thoughts on it and what you think would be the better way to go.
Option 1:
Sell/trade taurus for a cheap mustang(doubt i'd get more then 2.5-3k if i'm luck for the taurus) and i'm also trading the truck in next summer for something a little cheaper like a 01-03 ranger 4x4.
Or
Option 2:
Hold onto the taurus as my DD for work since I deliver pizza's and will be till atleast the end of next year. Trade the truck in next summer for a 99-04 GT(most run around 8-14k depending on year/mileage) and find me a cheap(1500ish) beater for offroading.
I wont be going balls out on the stang as far as performance goes so i'd just have a nice, but quick weekend driver. Right now i'm thinking option 2 would be better. However i'm asking your opinions to get the pro's/con's.

You won't be able to find a Mustang for 2.5-3k that is worth driving. I've seen four cylinder coupes going for that much. You probably should stick with option 2.

get out of as much debt as you can then you can save up and get what you want.

If it was me, I'd do whatever caused me the least amount of debt. I'd say sell the ranger/trade it in and get something you can afford straight out or take out a very small loan on. The least amount of money owed the better.

thats why i'm looking into around a 01ish mustang for around 10k. By the begining of 08 I will have a real job out of school. So i'll be looking at cutting back on everything next summer. When I will be able to trade the truck in.

sell everything now, buy a beater or keep one you have now thats paid for. No need to pay high interest when you dont have to. Save that money and when you get a good job you will have that much more to pay down on a car.

I'm going through a thing right now of looking at convertibles...but I might as well wait another year, have that much more saved up, and put more down and get a better rate next year.

Why dont you just pay off your truck... try to double your payments if possible, then when you pay it off sell it and get what you want. Dont trade it cause you'll hardly get anything for it. Plus if you need the extra cash you can sell the taurus or just keep it and put your work mileage on it. You can get a decent mustang Gt for around $10-$11 if you buy it from a private seller.... Def not a dealership.

There is NO way I could afford paying double payments. By next summer I would be able to trade/sell it myself.
Cant sell the truck right now I currently owe more then what I could get for it, but by next summer i'll be able to.

sell the cars you have and pay down on the truck then sell it and come off clean~ if you can. Then finance a little beater for cheap something that you can pay easily and save at least 25% of your income toward a car next year.

I only have the truck and the taurus. The taurus is the beater and i'm getting that for free. So i'd rather wait till next summer to get rid of the truck and not pay anything then sell the taurus, pay the truck down and still owe more then what i'd be able to sell it for. However if I sell the truck next summer and drive the taurus untill I have a "real" job then that will give me 6 months to save up a nice downpayment.
