hey guys...
As you may know already I am looking at a 97 cobra convert with 27k and
also looking at a 2003 GT with 29k miles...
So what can you tell me when you put these two side by side performance wise , mods, weight of the car...you get the drift...
let me know.
Regards,
Winged Avenger

I'd say go with the Cobra, simply because of the 4V motor and rarity.

If the GT is a coupe and has a 5 speed, I would go with the GT. Some people would rather have a convertiable. This is just my opinion, the Cobra definitely has the better motor.

I still need some technical info....I appreciate all of your opinions. Yes I too agree that the coupe is a better car but, motor wise the cobra's got it.
So as you can see I am still at an impass...Anyone else care to comment ?
Again thanks to all who have participated.

Cobra is a little over 300 hp, GT has 260...
if you want modable power, and like the 97's looks... get the Cobra. If you don't like how it looks, get the GT.
the Cobra responds to mods a little better than the GT

the cobra has 305hp/317tq and has a high rpm peak and is a nice top end/all around car. They run 13's stock and have a good bit of potential. The motors are hand built, but they do not have forged rods/pistons.
The GT is a 2v motor.... lower potential... and slower stock. (not by a ton but definatly slower) The cobra is more rare and if taken care of will hold its value far better (look how old it is and the price vs what the GT will be worth when that old...

Thanks ...so if I go with the cobra..and being thats it a vert. How long would the rag top last if the car would be my daily driver. The reason I am asking is the car would sit outside in the extreme tempatures but, would only be driven
in dry weather. If it snows or heavy rain than it would stay in the garage...any ideas ??
Again thanks to all who have participated and please do not hesistate to continue to add..for this all very valuable information.

get a car cover for it and it will be fine. The warranty you can get on the GT may give you peice of mine (you can get one still and only get the preimium waranty if you get one)
drive both a good bit and decide which best fits you and your needs for a car.
