Nothing like 4,000 horsepower top fuel and top alcohol flat-bottom boats to get your friday night going
I don't have any video editing software on this computer, so go to about 2:30 minutes into the video where the fun stuff is. If someone wants too, they can convert the video to .wmv and crop out the first 2 or so minutes.
Sunday I will spend all day at the finals watching these monsters do sub-5 second 1/4 mile passes at over 230 mph on water and pit crews thrashing on engines
god I love racing.
EDIT: No video, its about 50 MB, so I will wait until I can get on my laptop on Sunday, but trust me the video is cool HINT: its a top alcohol boat shooting flames out of the pipes for a good 30 seconds

Damn, I didn't know those boats would accelerate that fast. What do those boats use to accelerate, propeller, or the water jets. (I guess their called water jets ) I know a guy who built a boat and put a Supercharged 350 in it and he has a propeller/propellers on his, and his brother built a boat and put a 454 in it and his uses water jets. These guy are real big into boats. They even use GPS to check their speed because apparent a boat speedo is extremely inacurrate. Anyways the guy with the supercharged 350 said that propellers are better for going fast than water jets, and I would have thought that it would be the oppossite. Of course this guy nows more about boats than me, but he might just be trying to make his boat look better than his brothers. I've never seen either boat, only pictures.

Sweet!! the NHRA Summit Nationals got rained out here this year so I didn't get to go
anywho, on to the pictures from the finals (no videos, forgot I don't have a .mov to .wmv converter anymore)....
A boat moving pretty damn fast....
Engine Fire!!! OOPS!!
Front end of a top alcohol hydro
big bad engine.
big bad blower.
Blow up your engine during eliminations but still made it to the finals? NO PROBLEM!! 5 guys on the engine and 4 on the boat should do it.
coolest. trailer. ever.
This guy got air and rolled his boat over a couple of times. He got pretty lucky as far as damage goes and also had no injuries to himself.
big dick tater about to put in for the finals
This guy got eliminated in the final round of eliminations and decided to grudge race a friend right before the finals. He ran a 4.74 @ 252 at send the record for fastest time on the Savannah River and came with .01 of tying the world record, however, when he hit his chutes it ripped the boat in half and sent it into a spiral. His capsule seperated from the boat so he has fine, but the largest piece of fiberglass left of his boat was about 10" around, there was literally nothing left of it. And it was all for fun, no money involved....I bet he is pissed....
(there are 2 jetskis and 2 rescue boats out there, the little white specs are the wrecked boat)

yeah, like i said that one guy set the record on our river with a 4.74 @ 252mph. the times are about the same as a top alcohol cars, but the MPH is lower, i'm not sure why though. The rooster tail they create from their wake is so high you can't see the boat in the outside lane until after the race so you don't know if he crashed or not, lol.
