The August R&T Magazine reviewed a Stage 3 Roush Mustang. It was given some real positive performance #'s compared to the Shelby GT500 coming for2007.In particular and I quote..."Roush's lack of nose heaviness ,due to the 4.6 aluminum engine is much trimmer compared to the iron block 5.4 Triton...The Roush's...balanced all around contact patches make for quick and decisive turn in and no thought transitions...the Shelby makes you think back to driving school talks about weight transfer .Threading past eight , 100 foot spaced cones at 68.5 mph (versus the Shelby 65.3)...Slalom and Skidpad are no contest.Roush generates 0.94g versus 0.87g Shelby. The Stage 3 Roush will match the Shelby Zero to 60 time of 4.7 seconds...and isn't far behind at the quarter mile-trap 13.3 at 107.8 mph, versus the Shelby's 13.1 at 112.2mph ..."
Since I know there are a few people interested ,the Roush hits 100mph from a standing start in 11 seconds. It says Top Speed for the Roush is 145mph and it is electronically limited.
My interest lead me to the Magazines Road Test Summary and for the sake of being brief I picked a couple of Sport cars to compare the Roush to.
The Viper SRT10 coupe by comparison on the slalom was 67.8 mph .The Corvette Zo6(2006) did it at 69 mph. I posted this for the benefit of those interested in what Road and Track magazine thinks of the Roush.I own one, however it's in the paint shop for a dented fender. With all of it's great handling I managed to hit the side of the garage while backing in:wtf2:

I own a Stage 3 Roush(2006).My prior car was a 2004 Z06.I couldn't afford a 2006 Z06(I really wanted one)! After doing some comparo shopping I stumbled onto a new Roush. In my mind I felt the Roush was better value. Also I think the C6 Corvettes are difficult to shift through the gears. The C5's had many problems with shift forks on the 6 speed.I love the 5 speed on this Roush!

Glad to hear you went with Roush, Stage 3 no less. Get some pix of the beast. I was in line for the Shelby, when they said $71,000 I was gonna get the Stage 3 for $20,000 less. My dealer buddy became Steeda certified, so I got the s/c version, same price. Can't beat the warranty coverage either. Congrats!

And people keep telling me they won't be selling for "pushing 70k"....some need to listen more. Rediculous price for a mustang. Better bang for buck going vette.
Good job to you both on getting the roush and steeda. The roush is really not my cup of tea, but everyone likes something different. The steeda offering I am not familiar with as I lost respect for them when the 03 cobra parts started coming out (long story).
At least y'all got off paying less that what the stealerships are going to try to rape people for on the GT500.

That rapage only lasts for a limited amount of time, pretty soon the things will be sitting on the lots with discounts all over them. The markups are just the price you have to pay to be the first guy on the block with a certain car. Congrats on the Roush though, I love those.

It is a badass...expensive car. When they first started arriving to dealers, last fall...some listed over $100,ooo.oo(CDN)That is well over 40grand more than my new car,I just purchased in June.I'd love to have one to replace my old 2004 Zo6,but I'm not that rich. IMO the other thing I didn't want to risk was the problems GM had with their 6 speed shifters on the C5's.When Car and Driver reviewed the 2006 C6 Zo6,they commented that the shift gates were easy to miss. That is due to having a long shift linkage to the rear transaxle.Absolutely no improvement to the C5's.No wonder GM is in trouble. The way they deal with quality issues is to do nothing!
The Stage 3 Roush is definitely a more solid car than my old 2004 Zo6.If I won a few million bucks in a lotto I may get a new Zo6...I will say that the Zo6 Auto transmission is a better option(durability wise) ,if thats what your after.I don't care if the new Zo6 (auto)comes with plastic shift paddles...I do not like an automatic,Period. The 5 speed in the Roush is well set up and predictable.I am having a blast in it and have plans to go out on a few track days with it this year

I thought you could only get that transmission in a base Corvette. Don't the Z06's only come with a 6-speed manual.

In all I have read about them in the magazines the Zo6 is a six speed. However while at the Toronto Auto Show last Feb./06 ,I had a talk with a salesman who said the Z06 (auto with paddles)was available as an option.I went over to the "Corvette Forum" just now
before I answered you and there did not seem to be anyone with an automatic over there.Lots of new owners however selling their Zo6's due to the shift fork epidemic(carried over from the C5-Zo6),complaints of chassis flexing, electrical problems, blown motors.Go over to that forum and see for yourself.Alot of unhappy campers.Lots are for sale by unsatisfied customers that GM is unwilling to help!

Crap it, I was just going to post that!
I have heard that Vette's have had electrical problems since the C5's came out...too much electronics when mechanical systems would have still worked fine, but it is a weight savings.
