I don't think any auto maker would make a FI car that wasn't forged just for liability if nothing else...

I prefer the term "hyperpathetic" when refering to hypereuretic, kthx. However, I do believe the new flying unicorn (since zim likes fruity car names) aka shelby aka gt500 aka cobra, whateverthehell you want to call it does have forged internals.

I refer you to the lightning...not forged.
As for the forged-ness of the GT500...I know they are strong, but I never heard them refered to as forged. There was always some other term and I can't remember it off hand. I am trying to find and remember where I read it...but I can't at the moment.

Dont they use some powder something method on the rods? If it was between the two I would take the GT500 and sell it for far more than its worth. If I had to drive which ever ... I would probably stick with my current car as the GT500 is currently overpriced.
I would take a new zo6 over either but once again those are a tad to pricey.

i know some pistons come Cerami-Coated for better heat dissipation purposes, but never heard of rods. i know alot of the big name boost runners are now cryo-treating their rotating assembies and transmissions, they stick the parts in -330* and it realigns the molecules to make them up to a certain percentage stronger, then theres a special process of re-warming them to normal temps so it keeps the re-molecularization process.

Here are the problems I have with the GT500.
1.The car was way overhyped, both by enthusiast, and Ford. If I remember correctly Ford was saying that no other car in the GT500's price range(I am talking about MSRP)will have it's level of performance. WRONG, lets see how about a base Corvette, Lotus Elise, Lancer Evolution, WRX STI, maybe more. Of course the EVO and STI being several thousands cheaper. All of these cars will run 12's or low 13's stock, and they probably all turn better. Im sure when the GT500 starts to hook up it will accelerate faster than all of these accept maybe a Corvette.
2.Where's the aluminum block. This would have saved a good amount of weight and more importantly saved it off the front of the car. You cannot name another modern Rear wheel drive sport car with a 57/43 F/R weight distrabution. To me that should be unacceptiable by todays standards, especially after you give the knew mustang a 6 inch longer wheel base than the last model mustang. And yes a Mustang is a sport car, even if it is a muscle car. This is 2006 and you can't just blow off suspension setup, weight distribution, etc.
3.Overall weight of course. Ford really should have found a way not to make this Mustang a 2 ton car. Use some fiberglass body panals maybe, do something. If this car weighed 400 or 500 pounds less everybody would be praising this car, including me.
4.This car is not very good looking in my opinion, But I think with bigger rims,(more weight) and a good drop, with an even F/R stance, that this car will look hot. The concept sure did.
5.This is Fords top sport car right now. The Ford GT is no longer in production. It needs to perform better.

I would so much rather have the 2007 Shelby. Sure, they weigh more... but a 2003 Cobra isn't exactly a feather-weight either. They are both pigs.
I think the Shelby makes up for its extra weight with a much better designed interior, an all-new chassis, and the 5.4 over the 4.6. That's nearly an extra liter of displacement to work with.
Of course... if Ford builds the Boss as rumored in the other thread... I'd rather have it than either one.

^ yeah.. let's just hope they don't mess this one up...
I'd totally go with the Boss if they do it.. it'd be nice to have it back.
