Could be glazed over. or, they could just be shitty brakes. or they could have been installed like shit and wore down already. Where did you get them done? Did they replace or resurface the rotors or did they just put new pads on the current rotors?

Yeah, I had some problems with my brakes recently.
If you did the pads, make sure and get the rotors turned.
But sometimes, they will just squeal occasionally anyway. I was told that if you just do a really hard brake, it gets past a spot in the pads that squeals, being semi metallic. I tried that and it worked.

you rims have no impact on the brake making noise or not (directly of coure) indirectly the extra weight makes the brakes worth harder but either way...
I have had GREAT experience with the oem ford pads.. my 01 pads are STILL in use probably 75k on them~ squeeling CAN be caused by uneven pressure applied to the pad across the rotor. It will go away with more pressure on the petal if this is it. If it is... get used to it. My passenger side squeels~
you can take them off and clean them good if you want and sand down the edges of the pad.

there's a special grease compound that should have been put on the pads to keep them quiet. I can't remember the name but it really makes a difference. should be able to find it in any auto parts store.
Do you notice any vibration in the brake pedal when you have it pushed down all the way?

Which firestone? Was it the one on jones creek? That place fubared by parent's brakes and we had to do them again ourselves...not to mention they wanted to completely replace everything that had any bit of rust on it saying it was ruined...we told them "Welcome to the world of snow and salt...that is what NY roads will do to a car within a month." Tried to charge us $850 for front brake replacement.

You also pay 300 a month for insurance....time to find a new shop too. The one I refered to is well known as a rip off...total bait and switch type place. Get you in there for a $50 brake job, and run the bill to 600 in no time. Many, many people know not to go there.

It doesn't work for long though. Mine were sqeeling some, I ended up having to lock them up to avoid a wreck, fixed it for about a week. Then again...I've driven a little over 1000 miles in the past week...so they've gotten plenty of wear since then.
