Bad Autometer Boost Gauge?

I have been trying to figure out a problem I am having with my boost gauge for a couple days now. The problem is that the gauge is reading no boost at WOT. I am definately making boost b/c I can feel it in the way the car pulls, but the gauge is reading boost sparatically. 1 out of every 10 times I hit the gas it might pop up to 5 psi. I have removed the gauge and made sure I am getting vacume from the line at idle and when I hit the gas I can feel the air coming out of the tube, so that to me eliminates any obstruction in the line. Could this just be a bad gauge? has anyone here had this happen to them? I have already called autometer and they are sending me a new gauge but I was just wondering if anyone else had dealt with this.

vacuum leak somewhere else in the system, but I guess if that was true, the car would be running like it had a vacuum leak. Is it reading vacuum properly? Probably just a faulty gauge.

Is it Mechanical? Unfortunately the mechanical guages seem to go bad rather quickly. If you have no vacuum leaks (and yo would know by a loss of power) it's probably the gauge.

I disagree... mechanical guages are usually more stable than electronic just because theres no sending units. I had an autometer fuel pressure guage go bad on me, but it might have had something to do with sitting right on my fuel rail and constantly be vibrating,

Id just check to make sure theres not even the slightest crack or something in your vacuum lines... that would mess it all up.

well it isn't running like it has a vacume leak, my gauge does not show vacume just boost, and like I said the line going to the back of the gauge i can feel and hear the vacume. When I step on it I can hear & feel it transition from vacume to boost.

Yeah, I was going to say that I think for things like boost, a mechanical gauge is better because I would prefer it actually use the pressure rather than a sender, but I didn't feel like explaining myself to the "electronic is better" group.

However, I know of a bunch of people running both and it seems like the ones with mechanicals need to be replaced more often than the electronics. I do feel that their accuracy is better though referring to boost.
