power limit on a 99 cobra?

I've researched other discussions and forums but can't come up with a definite answer yet. Some guys say that the cobra motors are bulit proof and some companies say to only run between 5-8 psi on them for longevity purposes.
Now how come a V6 can handle 10 psi all day with a good tune and still last a long time, but a 4v motor with forged crank seems restricted on how much boost it can take?
I've heard 500hp is a reasonable limit, but I don't build engines so I don't know if it's true or just what people have said and others pick up on that.
I want to know what a 99 motor can take and not an 03-04?
Any educated opinons out there?

the block is alot weaker than the 96-98 teskin(sp) block since the block and crank are both forged in my car that block will handle about 1000 HP don't know about the crank, but the pistons and rods are the weak spot.
AND the 99 cobras came with a weak ass 28slpine IRS that certainly can't help

most dont seem to run over 8-10 psi on them for daily use~ What is their compression ratio compared to the v6?

Good Lord. I'm surprised they can run that much pressure with that level of compression.

^thats why its sooo low, but the forged block and crank make up for SOME of it, i WILL be running forged pistons, rods and low low compression on my motor build if it ever gets started(KB 2.1 with a custom intercooler)

Is that at the crank or the wheels? Justin do you tune 4v 4.6 or mainly 6's?

3.8 & 4.2 Block is steel
4.6 GT and Cobra block are Aluminum
03/04 4.6 Cobra block is Steel
Aluminum can be made to be as strong as steal with either the right heat treat or the proper aluminum alloy mixture. The peoblem is either way of making a aluminum block stronger is way more expensive than steel and marginally more expensive than a normal aluminum block.

well I know the wap block doesn't have as much webing as the teskin block so I guess that's why it's the weaker of the two. I'm just worried since so many guys over at svtperformance have blown up or dammaged a few stock motors with really low mileage.
Since mine is a DD I have to be nice to it. I think i'll just try to make as much power possible NA until I can afford to break something.

Just as an FYI and to clarify the (sp?) above....it is teksid.
And if you know of someone with one for sale...let me know. I would love a nice teksid aluminum stroker in my car.
