#1. I got some parts here, we could make a drawing for folks becoming supporting members
and I'm talking things like ported heads
#2. I would like to see an engine building contest like "Engine Masters" but for Essex V6's,
it would be for V6 shops, people like myself who have built many combos, and up&comers
like Matt Neuharth used to be before Delk got into the game. We could see if places
like Comp and probably WiseCo and Ross (all who make V6 parts) would sponsor it with cash awards...
I suggest inviting Morana, RPM, SSM, Delk and then take applications from dedicated
individuals who have done lots fo V6 R&D in the past.
Possible rules:
Must be a V6 Essex EFI engine, must use a factory Essex block, crank and heads
with casting numbers visible on block and heads... crank too, upon tear-down.
The combo specs must be revealed upon contest completion for the good
of the V6 community at large, so the little guy can learn and the bigger shops
can also use this for advertising fodder.
I think this should include head flow and port/chanber CC among other things,
as these #'s are crucial in the power production. CR and normal buying specs
listed too. Cam specs as well, at least what one would use to buy such a cam
from the respective seller (.050" duration, lift, and LCA/IC specs.)
That's just a bare-bones set of rules, but also to simplify things and reduce costs,
it should be NA only (no power adder).
Doing this in mid 2008 or later would give the participants plenty of time to work up a winning combo

haha, NO not free zimmers.... unless it's for the good of ME (meaning me, not Evo)
I was gonna be compensated for the valve job, but my labor is donated.
Small core fees apply, like $ 50 for single port heads, $75 for SPI. BUt it
would likely boost membership substantially... old timers like yourself could
get in on the drawings for maybe a $5 re-sign fee???
Just my thoughts, let's let da man weigh in first...

We tried something similar with an iPod NANO, and there were some issues. I don't recall specifically what they were.

I think this site as V6 Engine Masters host would be 'teh shizzznitz" tho...
That is a totally different scenario

Running contests as involved as that are a big hassle and a lot of work and often return little or no reward for the work and time that I/everyone else put into them. We tried something as simple as raffling an ipod and no one would get involved with that.
Plus, we are not a V6 Mustang exclusive site anymore and yet I keep seeing people refer to it as such.

could have everyone donate like $20 and then have a contest/raffle. winner gets the pot for use modding their car... build up coverage could be posted and articalized on the site... could even turn it into a how-to/tutor meetup buildup... teach those of use that aren't really wrench turners the way around our cars
just a thought

Would that revoke the non-profit status or something?

OK, so this is not really a raffle either, it's just a prize for new members.
So how about the V6 Engine Masters (working title only) contest?
If not here I will present it elsewhere, just giving you first shot bub!

Reason I ask is that I have a set of heads that were "donated" by an ex-V6'er
and include big intake valves and porting. I promised to do something with them
and I thought a website promo would be the ticket. What if we did it
"Publisher's Clearinghouse" style, and had an option when a person
registered for the drawing (free) come up giving them the option to join
Evo's Finest (with a disclaimer possibly that states it does not increase your chances of winning, optional IMO)
so as to remain legal and not be actually charging as a raffle.
We would get TONS of site traffic and I could donate the rest of my labor and
all it would cost ME (Evo, not me personally) is the shop fees for the valve job
and the rebuild costs. It would be under $200 for sure. BVI heads for a grand prize No core, I'll forgo that.
That's my final answer.
Fully legal and free porting and cores, only shop fees apply for the site.
The most the shop fees have ever been was $150 for a set like this.
Best prices in the nation (I gots mad hook-ups yo!)
BTW, the heads are 96-98 cores, beehive spring compatible.
IF we cannot do a relatively simple thing like this then hosting a V6 Engine Masters
challenge promo is likely out of the question. I just thought that it would be a good idea
to give ME first shot at it, cuz Gaston might want to participate and hosting
it on V6P would be seen as a possible conflict of interest.
V6 Engine Competition would be a couple of years off anyway...
You need time to set up the rules and find participants and then give them time to build it.
