What's goin on everyone?

I have a single flowmaster 40 series muffler on my 3.8L and then a custom dual outlet setup. It sounds a little deeper than stock but not as deep as I would like. I am told the mustang comes with 4 cats which definatly muffles the sound. Is there anything I can do to make this car sound as close to a
V8 as I can? Or is the flowmaster the best it is going to get? Also when you jump on it in 2nd gear, the car whistles around 3,500 - 4,000 RPMs. it mostly does this in 2nd and never when in neutral, could this be an exhaust or intake issue??

Thanks for the help.

You have a v6, it will never sound like a v8. I'm not fond of the flowmaster sound personally, especially in the upper rpm range. If you are looking for a deeper sound, then taking the cats off will do you no good, that will make you sound like more of a honda civic than the car already does.

As far as the whistle goes, do you have an intake installed on the car, such as a cold air intake or something similar?

Don't expect any real gains from it, but you'll love the sound difference.

Depends on the muffler you went with.

It might help to get the true duals. Might lower it a bit, but it will take lots of engine mods to increase depth.

I grow weary of hearing Flowmasters. I would say get MAC just to be different but I have not heard any in person.

My advice, go to a reknowned exhaust shop and have them let you listen to some examples. They will be able to fabricate you any size piping you want, and whatever muffler(s) you want for much cheaper than buying a "set". I just don't see paying extra for a brand of pipe.

I also have a single flow w/ a y-pipe. I went to get a quote for true duals cutdown and the guy said it may not make of a sound difference. He said something about the sound from 3 cylinders to a single flow...instead of all 6 cylinders to a single flow would give it a certain sound that I interpreted as bad. I could really understand the guy, he had a speech disorder. Anyone know what difference it would make?
